Looking to buy a watch between £2-3,000.
It's available in stock from a high street shop - I've tried it on and pretty much decided I'll have it.
Assuming the one I tried from the display is the only one available, how much discount should I push for; £50 or 10% - something in between?

I would push for minimum 10%

What's the brand?
For example Tag heuer or Omega you should get 25% off, brietling about 35% off. Obviously hard to get models wont fit in these ranges but in general thats ok.
Find the same watch online from a grey dealer and show then you can get the watch far cheaper and ask them to match it.
Buy with a cashback credit card to save further.

Perhaps I could've done better then. As it was, I settled for nearly 20%. Deal's done and I'm now a happy owner of a North Flag on bracelet. cool

i was potentially naive but i got approx 20-25% off a breitling. the watch was like new but the obvious give was a 2 year goldsmiths versus 5 year breitling warranty. i didnt have a specific model in mind so i was happy with it but definitely buy the one you want, discount if its available, great.

Not seen one in the metal yet, but I do like the look of them.

Took me a while to decide. It's definitely a bit Marmite.
One nice thing for me is, it just doesn't look like a luxury/posh watch. It's like a stealth watch - unlike my Omega SMPO or the Explorer 214270 I was considering, no-one's going to think it's flash bling - understated and under the radar, I think.
Spent ages reading reviews and watching videos. hehe

Really? Do you think you could buy a standard Speedmaster Professional (rrp £3520) from an AD for £2600? Seems very unlikely to me.

They've done a really nice job with the North Flag. First outing for the sleek in-house movement if I remember correctly.

Agree with what others have said, it totally depends on the watch. If you look at it from the retailers point of view, how many watches does he want to keep in stock that cost that amount of money. In actual fact I think just about every watch I have ever bought from a shop is the only one they had in stock

Do you mind telling me where you purchased from?

My Dad is after one of these but there must be a discount!

Botheration. Date's stopped changing on crown. Flips over at midnight, but not worn it for a week or so and had to change by hand on second stop. Nothing happens.
It's also running 7-8 seconds fast so I'll get that sorted while it's back. Again.
Love the watch, but reliability's not been great.

That's a shame as it's a good looking watch... sounds a bit familiar given recent Tudor woes with the GMT. Maybe movement commonalities...
I'd stick with it; doubt it's fundamental, easily enough sorted if a PIA

Looked out warranty card and receipt and trekked into the mall to return to Fraser Hart. Embarrassingly, it worked flawlessly. No idea what happened but it's fine now. Still running fast but I can live with that.

I have a North Flag, about two years old but I’m not the original owner so don’t know any service history. However it runs absolutely bang on time, no shift at all either way. My other watches all run slow or fast to varying degrees.

Edit: just checked and it’s a certified movement so you might be able to get it further regulated under warranty

I love the look of that, but the proprietary integrated bracelet / strap means it's not for me. I like swapping over to often and having lots of aftermarket options.

One of my fave Tudors, normally I prefer bracelets but prefer the strap for the flag, however now you have that option too.

The advise is always buy on the bracelet as you can swap it out afterwards. Good advice too, I tried an Omega Aqua Terra and for a watch costing 4k it was only £80 extra on the bracelet.

I want a bracelet for my Planet Ocean and its £525 from the AD. YIKES... its stainless steel not solid gold!!!
