Had a lucky find yesterday while going through CDG airport. They just had a SS Black face Sky come in stock, right place at the right time and all that! It worked out more expensive than uk list with the current exchange rate but where can you get one, so I just bought it!

Bit of a predicament now though as I’m on a list for a blue face. Promised it will be in soon, so do I sell the Black with perhaps a long wait for the Blue, I just don’t know?!

Question is the Blue seems to be the one to go for in terms of value but I actually quite like the Black as it’s similar to my everyday SS Sub, thoughts guys??

I think that is a beautiful watch and once the blue face arrives in stock you will have no problem getting your money back worst case, or making a bit of profit moving it along.

Great pick up, well done.

I like both and would be more than happy to have that one, however, you could sell and maybe make a bit of money, then buy the blue at AD price, guess it depends on the £numbers and the wait time for the blue!

It's a lovely watch and my grail if I had the cash to spend on one, although reading a thread about the spread on the bids vs retail on the Rolex forums I'm not sure you'd get much more than 11k selling it to the usual suspects they seem to have quite a lot of margin in their retail pricing at least 3-4k on the black or white faced models. (No idea if that is correct just what people had reported when offering them to WF as an example)

On a private sale you'd make some money though, fantastic watch regardless, I'd keep it.

Talking of Rolex values anyone get the WF flash sale email today? I clicked the link and was surprised to see loads of SS sports watches reduced by up to £1500, including 16710 and LN/BLNR GMTs and Subs etc.....

Looks like even they have admitted the bubble might have some air coming out of it.

Looks like WF marked the prices up before the "sale". 8600 for a green sub reduced from 9400. List price of 6600!

Last year when I bought mine there were plenty of mint pre-owned models at 6500-7000

Back on topic, that sky dweller looks lovely, makes a change from the sea of Subs and Daytonas!

So I have made the decision and sold my SS sub date to a friend who can’t get on any lists for a new one. This means I will be keeping the Sky but I’m not sure if I should leave it in the box with the stickers on or just start wearing it?! I think as soon as I do my AD will email to say the blue face Sky is in!

Can’t help but try it on a few times though, and yes I haven’t even set it yet!

I have worn various Daytonas for the last 12 years and about 2 months ago a Black dial Sky became my daily wearer. I love that it is more subtle than the Blue dial. Keep it and sell the Blue dial when it arrives.

If you're au fait with the Hulk, Batman and Daytona Ceramic market, £9400 is fairly standard going for a full set Hulk. Certainly not marked up by WF standards anyway.
