So I've ordered one of the limited edition Ball Engineer III day date watches.

SS with blue dial and Tritium tubes.

I thought it was a bargain, but what do the PH enthusiasts think?

I like the History of the Company also!

Each to their own, but nothing in their range appeals. However, you have to smile at a firm that makes the Ball Skin Diver!

I have a pair of Balls …. rolleyes settle down at the back,

A Telemeter and a Fireman

The Fireman is a good quality watch, standard ETA movement and an equal to a Longines or Oris or Hamilton in my eyes, has a great quality metal bracelet strap (swapped in picture) & was a great 'Daily'
The Telemeter although bulky in size is a step up in quality - 7750 movement, The dial has great detail.

I'd struggle to recommend a Ball over eg a Seamaster if your spending £2.5k but if you can get a Engineer for £1k or an Engineer Hydrocarbon for under £2k then … Yes I'd go for one HTH

They've been on secretsales.com twice this year, I linked to them on another Ball thread on here. IIRC Engineers were selling at the £1200-1600 with many others sub £1k.

Nice watches but like a few other brands I don't see the value in buying at full (or even slightly discounted) prices when they can be regularly found at 40% off.

I bought a Ball Fireman (one with the orange stitching on the strap) in the ernest jones sale a couple of years ago as at around £650 it seemed decent value and it's a decent watch, though not worth their RRP, but then what watches are? I like the stormchaser pro and would have one if they ever came up at 50% off

Sorry for late reply, been busy!

Anyway, this Ball I'm getting is supposed to be a limited edition of 1000.
So would they end up on special at Ernest Jones??
Blurb said production would begin when all 1000 ordered (I think).

Any views on that?

Got a few other watches, so hope this does not disappoint, but the Tritium and Day/Date swung it!

I'd say yes. Never pay full sticker for a Ball.

But look, don't buy this an investment, buy it because you love it. Then you'll never lose money.

I have a Ball Fireman, btw, and it's my daily go-to watch. Love it!

I always link Secret Sales when they do a Ball Watches sale as I know there are a few fans, plenty of Engineers at under a grand and some nice designs if you're into them. You have to sign up to see them but this screen grab will give you an idea...

Thanks a lot for that. The one I want (Engineer Master II Diver) isn't on special but I'll try to hold out for the next sale!

BAll don't have much history.

The current company was established in the 1990s, the orignal Ball having shut up shop.

Same name, as far as I'm aware, not the same company.
