Hi guys,

I have a few Gshocks (The large variety), but I need an everyday watch which fits under a shirt/suit.

Do I started looking at the Gshock 5600 Series. Was about to buy the tough solar and then came across the W800H-1AV.

Absolutely brilliant reviews by all accounts, great module and cheap. Anyone have one here?

Thanks

If you're doing this,

why not go proper old school and get the F-91W

[shudder, but not on the right wrist.....]

OP Here.

Picked this up at lunch! Well chuffed although the strap seems slightly lacking in quality.

Here's mine. The model number on the back just says W-800H.

I bought it more than 9 years ago from a high street jeweler. It was on offer at £9.99. I remember being quite bemused as (totally unprompted) the assistant placed it in quite a nice presentation box and carefully gift wrapped it.

It's on the original battery but probably it's 4th strap.

The rules of my working environment specify watches must be non-metallic with a strap that will break away at the pins. That means no nato style straps which completely encircle the wrist.

The watch is accurate to a few seconds a month. The alarm is loud enough to wake me (usually). I use the stop watch function regularly to time the operating speed of electro-hydraulic actuators etc. When it gets greasy/dirty, I wash it with soap under a running tap.

I'm afraid you overspent.
The F91-W is all the watch you'll ever need. Its retro-cool, rugged, relaible, cheap and exceptionally versatile.

I wear a 5610 pretty much every day. It appears to be bombproof.

Correct smile

Today, my F-91w has kicked my expensive Swiss watch off the wrist.
I went on a stag recently with my School/Uni mates from 1990s. We are all captains of industry.
3 F-91w s on display

Mike, I've just twigged, is that an IED?

I noticed. I didn’t see it before I posted.

Suffice to say, should one construct some form of IED out of that Casio, there’s an even chance you may be able to reuse the watch.

I've owned a G shock 5610 for about 10 years so can recommend that. Solar powered, has all the functions you need (alarm, repeat countdown, stop watch, timezones). I believe there is a radio time update but never bothered with it.

Tough as old boots, you can wear it anywhere

Two years ago it appeared to "die". Stuck it in the window and 3 days later it came back to life, I think the battery was a bit low.

Perfect gym/sports watch or casual watch. Cost me about GBP60 from Amazon, I think they are about 90 now?

It's not called the terrorists' watch for nothing. As seen on the wrist of Osama Bin Laden.

W800H-1AV.

Bigger sized time digits, than other watches featured in this thread?

I've had this Casio for a few years:

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/2517883

Bought for a discounted £10, but managed to break off half the bezel within weeks. Now the straps splitting. I appreciated the larger digits. I might replace with that W800H.

I enjoyed the irony.

For those with Casios with 60 minute stopwatches, as opposed to 24hr, what happens after 1hr? Does it just zero and keep going or stop?

edit: searching some pdf manuals, looks like some models stop (F-91W) and some carry on. I need to check manuals.
