Seamaster repair quote
Discussion
I have a long cherished Seamaster 2220.80.00 owned from new and approximately 19 years old. Unfortunately after a while of not getting it serviced it got water ingress and somewhat belatedly has gone off to Omega for a full service. They've come back with the news that the dial has oxidisation and needs replacing. This takes the repair cost up to just around 750 quid.
They've also listed a new bezel (£212) and a bracelet exchange (£300) as optional items for cosmetic/security reasons. But I'll ignore those for now.
So, my simple question is: would you spend £750 repairing a watch, or put the money to a new one? One the one hand (see what I did there?) it's had a long and distinguished life so maybe something new is in order. On the other there's no reason it can't go another 20 years with reasonable care and I have an emotional attachment to it having literally worn it every day.

The triggers broom comment is pretty accurate.
When you have a watch that has value like yours, it is such a shame to replace things that aren’t really necessary.
Omega have to quote what they do as they have no other option. It’s just how they do things.
I have just done a wet seamaster for someone last week. Full service, dial dried and cleaned (sentimental is more important than cosmetic) , hour and minute hand cleaned, seconds replaced, new crown, 8 new pins & tubes(bracelet was stretched) and a new clasp spring.
Total cost = just over 200 quid.
I bought a new dial and hands, just to show them how it would look, but they went with keeping the dial and as many hands as could be saved.
It’s a shame so many watch houses automatically go with replacement over customer wishes.
Anyway, drop me a message if you want it repaired.

Going to drop these a line about several Rolex that need servicing! TVR Moneypit said:
Another huge +1 here for Joe Horner at Anglesey Watches and Clocks.
Cartier wanted a minimum of £565 for a ten year service of my 38mm Pasha Chronograh. Joe did it for £168. Not only that, but he completed the work quicker than his original estimate. I was very, very satisfied with both his service and his quality of craftsmanship.
I have another 20 odd automatic and manual movements that need attention, (when funds allow), and all of them will be going to Mr Horner. I can't recommend him enough.
My father needed a new back for his omega that could no longer be sourced. The official routes gave up. Joe custom made one for a very reasonable price. we even offered to pay more but he refused.
