40th, £10k; 1 or 4 watches? 1st world problems!
Discussion
40th coming up and o/h has agreed I can spend up to 10k - lucky me
Always had my heart on a Daytona when I was younger, but price rises have placed it close to £10k, which can buy you a lot of watch!
So I've been debating on whether to stick to the Daytona or look to split my money and purchase examples of other iconic watches?
What would be on your list; either 1 or 4.....
edited to add I currently own a Seamaster 300, Tag Carrera and Breitling Cockpit

Take some time to think what you really want and why....
I really wanted a Snoopy Omega as it's a novelty and unusual for a quality watch and I wanted it for a keeper, When I said I wanted one they were around £3~4k and I thought this expensive, I went on to buy maybe over £5k on other cheaper watches, then bit the bullet last year and got a Snoopy for just over £6k (ouch) … a quick look on Chrono 24 see's their value now between £8~10k.
So if you really want a Daytona …. Get it as you'll only look at the alternative you bought instead and wish you could swap it.
Or be like me and enjoy the cheaper watches along with the big expensive one (or two in my case)

Why not step away from the high volume manufacturers and go for something classic, distinctive and largely unknown like the Corum Admiral's Cup?
Indeed, although if £10K is the budget, I’d look more closely at Chopard L.U.C. or Roger Dubuis Excalibur rather than a nice watch with only a (very decent version) ETA or suchlike.Burba said:

I'd get rid of those three and up your budget to £11k...

As you already have a couple of nice watches, I'd probably opt for the single watch option. However you could look at independent brands for something a bit different. It really depends on your tastes, as well as what you want from a timepiece.
The easiest decision for me would be Jaeger-LeCoultre - new or used. You could also stretch to a second hand Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, or a Patek Philippe (Calatrava) if you fancy owning a watch from one of the 'holy trinity'.
Subsequently, there are lots of incredible independent brands with stunning watches at this price point, albeit not always new. Sarpaneva, Czapek, H.Moser & Cie etc.

I had the same first world problem recently...ended up going for a Day Date 36 Everose with rhodium face and black leather strap. Couldn’t be happier with it. Was a 2014 watch that had been only worn “in shop”. Very hefty saving vs list. One of the few Rolex that seem to take a bit depreciation hit
Was in a similar position a few years ago.
Loved the Daytona since I was 20. Saved up and eventually got one. Really glad I did. Made the very long wait worthwhile. Had I got anything else, I know the desire to own one would still linger in the back of my mind. Everyday. And every time I saw one.
As you've already got several other nice watches, why not go for the one you really want?
