Morning,

It's time for a new watch as I haven't had a new one in 9 years :-)

I fancy a new G shock to replace an old tatty one. Primarily it will be worn on my mountain bike.

Do people actually use all the features on the more expensive ones? I ride with a Garmin GPS if I'm likely to get lost, occasionaly I will use a map and compass as well as the Garmin. Is the G shock compass useful?

Do the barometers help? It's unusual for me to be in actual mountains, it's normally the hills of the UK for me, bit occasonally I have been caught out by unexpected changes in mountain weather. Would a G shocks barometer help with that?

Budget £150-£200, happy to consider used.

Cheers!

Martin

I have a G-Shock Aviator which has withstood so many crashes it's unbelievable but i also think it may have been responsible for breaking my arm

If you have GPS on your smart phone ... I would just get a very basic G shock.

If you want GPS capability on the watch - Suunto are good.

I haven’t biked since moving to Asia / ME. .. however my friends in UK use an app which converts the GPS location and time from their phone - into a birds eye ‘real time’ view of the route / elevation gained / speed as you progress round the route .... this is overlaid on a satellite view from the air ... quite impressive. And any photos taken en route show up on the ‘track’

I might avoid the aviator in that case!

I've gone for a mud master from the casio b grade shop.

I'm curious to see how b grade it is for 50% off :-)

Good choice sir.

Could have bought new for under £60 but sure that will be fine.

Tuff as nails them G-Shocks, battlescars only add to street cred!

Relive is the app you're thinking of, it's great.

As for the G, nice choice. I've always worn mine when out on my MTB or road bike and never had any issues. Nice and light so it doesn't smash your arm to bits over the bumps and as it's plastic it's completely sweat/mud/blood proof.

I'm sure yours will serve you well.

I have some high end watches, but this has been worn every day since I bought it.

I may aswell sell the others it's that good.

has - that's a cracking watch! Perfect, but I was taken in by the gadgets on the mudmaster:-)

Old and new g shock

The new one is unlikely to get worn while painting ;-)

As for the b stock part, the tin just had a couple of scratches.

The watch and the rest of the packaging are mint!

As the tin will just live in the loft I'm happy to take that saving :-)
