Annoyed as it’s only 3 months old - but I wear it daily so some scars will be inevitable.

Popped into my local AD to ask about repairs - their response was to send it back to Rolex to have the whole crystal replaced.

I assume that means Rolex will want to service the watch as well which is going to be 500-600 with the crystal replacement.

Is there anyway to just replace the cyclops? I assume it’s just a bit of plastic stuck to the crystal with UV glue?

Not sure if it's still "a thing" now, but people used to just remove the cyclops for a cleaner look (like a Sea Dweller). I think a hot soldering iron was the common way to soften the glue.

If you want to replace it, Cousins sell sets of date lenses and the required adhesive:

Or just ignore it. I wear my sub every day and its covered in marks, and scratches.

I visited an AD once and when i took it off, the salesman went away, came back with gloves on and took it away to be cleaned smile without being asked ! lol. He was offended at how manky it was .

Thanks folks.

I'll investigate further the option of changing it myself - I'm certainly not down with sending it back to Rolex for them to relieve me of £600, I'd much rather it had some scars than do that! (yes I am cheap).

It might just be the light, but that doesn't look like a scratch from what it looks like.
It looks more like a metal scuff, silvery in colour and thick.

Can you get your nail into it?

If it IS a scratch, then the cheapest option is to send it to Rolex through your AD. There aren't many of us that can purchase Sapphires for new Rolex Models, but even those of us who can, cannot charge any less than Rolex.
They wont recommend a service after only 3 months, nor will they refurb it in any way, but they will replace the glass if requested. Obviously, they charge will be for a new sapphire, plus all of the seals replaced (case Back, Crown, Bezel & Glass) in order to gtee the watch is fully WR again.

If it isnt a scratch and you cant get a nail into it, message me and i will reveal the secret of removing it. smile

Brasso with the cotton wool applicator might rub that out.

It feels more like there is something on the surface than a scratch to be honest - but it's quite hard to tell properly.
