Apologies for starting what must be the eleventieth thread on this, but I'm considering buy the Mrs a steel & gold Datejust (36mm). What sort of discount could I expect at an AD?

You'll be very lucky to any these days, even on a TT Datejust.........but, it depends on whereabouts in the country you are.

On a Steel and Gold 36mm (irrespective of where you are in the country) you should be able to get 10% discount.

South Yorkshire here and a family member got a 31mm Datejust Steel & Gold last week.
Think she managed 7% discount.

You should be able to strike a decent deal if it's a display model, which is likely.

The focus is only on sports models so I would think discount on a TT DJ should be pretty easy, AD windows are full of them for a reason.

If you work for a company that may offer a employees discount website or along them lines you may find you can get Giftcards at a decent rate, i was likely enough to work for Rolls Royce at the time of the purchase of my Submariner and got 20% off Goldsmiths giftcards to which i bought (off the top of my head) £5700 worth for £4560.

Unfortunately Goldsmiths and most other High Street retailers now exclude Rolex and other "luxury" brands from purchase with these schemes. You'd need to interrogate the terms to check.

No idea how they police it, or how strict they are with it mind you
