I am not a watch collector although I have a few - (.JLC Reverso duo gold dress watch and so on).

However, as a Porsche owner I quite liked a watch that was produced in an edition of 70 for the Porsche Club of America to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the company.

Why all the packaging???.- I have always thrown that stuff out as I never sell watches and they are not investments for me. Still, what are you supposed to do with this stuff

First of all: the watch. not very flashy but does have a Porsche feel, and the movement on the back of the watch us made like a Fuchs wheel, which is fun:

BUT the packaging- Good God:

Massive outer box was discarded. - but there was another very heavy box:

then ANOTHER box:

inside this all sort of nonsense...a USB card, certificates, instrtuctions, spare strap:

What do people do with all this stuff?.. I recall when I bought a couple of JLCs and other Porsche design watches that they all came with the kind of stuff and I got rid of it all. If I kept all of the packaging on stuff I have bought I would need a bloody warehouse. I suppose I will keep some kind of certificate, why. I don't really know, since I tend not so sell stuff- hence so many older cars toosmile....

I think you’re nuts binning all the packaging materials. Ok you may not sell it but what about when you’re not here?!

Fair enough on cheap disposable items - unless of course you plan on binning the watch to at some point

Good in a crash? Seriously though, I like the Fuchs alloys rear case design.

They even included a USB card like a credit card. Nicely finished. Maybe to give lessons on how to push two buttons?

The watch is fine thoughsmile

Box looks about the same size as the one for my Seamaster 300m.

Yep, I'm an inveterate box-keeper for all sorts of stuff. Buyers love OE boxes.

I've got a small storage area brimming with boxes from mainly electronics smile makes all the difference when you're selling on, from cheap bluetooth speakers to relatively expensive watches.

Same here, I'm a bit of a box hoarder to be honest but I don't regret keeping them when it comes time to sell, especially electronics.

I always keep watch boxes.

OP - whatever you do, don't buy a new Omega Speedmaster. The box on that is huge & very heavy.

So is the one on a Longines Aviation A7. I've never seen a bigger box!

The Porsche one is some kind of heavy composite. Must have weighed ten pounds. For a bloody watch.

About the only things I keep boxes for are antique toy cars where they are 60-90 years old and I have the boxes. If I had the boxes for all the other stuff.i accumulated I would need a box store.

Nope, in the trash for me.

You’re mad to bin the boxes.

Even if you don’t want it, they are worth £££ on eBay & the likes.

I don't think a guy who can afford toys like that would care for the couple of hundies that he can make on ebay selling the unwanted bits, not to mention the hassle and potential time wasters.

One could take the view that a watch box’s size is inversely proportional to the value of the watch itself.

Feels like they’re trying too hard and compensating for something missing in their watches?

Speedmaster comes in a box bigger than this.

I am certain you would find a buyer, just for the box, on eBay.

Like the case back of the watch too, the strap looks thick

A lot of premium watches appear to be trying to justify their costs by the way of more and more elaborate packaging, The Brietling Emergency came in it's own briefcase, the Omega Speedmaster box is getting bigger and bigger and Panerai's have a massive wood box.
I personally quite like them, in a reassuringly expensive type way but they only end up in the loft.

I have a couple of Eterna made PD watches and the boxes are much bigger than they need be. The standard Eterna boxes are an OK compromise for size.
