Casio say they last ten years so mine is on borrowed time.
Just out of interest how long do/can they last?
And, at 10 years old, purchased for less than £100 and no sentimental value, when it does die should I just bin it and buy a new one?

A chap I work with is on 8 years plus with his battery. The batteries are cheap to buy, and easy to replace, no need to throw away a perfectly good watch.

Paid about £15 for an origonal figment Panasonic capacitor type for my solar gshock. Changed it myself and the watch was £140 when new. Also bought a £10 s new strap off eBay but it is the first present she ever bought me. Couldn’t stand my Foxtrot 91 Whiskey

I have a G7900 G-Shock and i think the battery is about to give up. I googled how to replace the battery and it is relatively straight forward. The battery for mine is £1.39 from ebay or I can take it to someone and pay for them to do it and they charge me £15, but it looks very simple to do it yourself.

Bump. 3 years on and watch is still going strong on the original battery.

This may be because I never use illumination or the alarm but, all the same, this is very impressive.

Due to the casualisation of work attire I very very rarely boot and suit and wear my G-Shock every day with chinos and work logoed polo-shirt.

Old faithful has been shoogled down many a bumpy mountain bike track, regularly white water rafted, snorkelled, swam, daily showered and taken many a good knock against walls, joists pipework in various lofts, floor voids and service ducts and is still serviceable and very presentable.

I have two semi-decent Seiko watches that only see the light of day on weddings and funerals. It's been so long since I've worn them one is lost somewhere in the house.

Given this level of longevity, performance and no need for any maintenance whatsoever and given its ability to be strapped on and forgotten about for years I recon we are looking at a very very impressive piece of kit.

The next test will be how it performs after the battery change. Will be interesting to see if I'm bumping this thread in 13 years time to tell you I've worn one watch almost every day over 26 years and it's about to get a 2nd battery but still going strong.

Just out of interest how long can they last and who has experience of G-Shocks worn every day for as long?
