Omega Seamaster Battery Change
Discussion
My every day watch has died and needs a battery. I used to take it to Goldsmiths in Cambridge and they had a jeweller onsite and did the job in 2 days. Now they have to send it away so much longer and Cambridge is no longer convenient.
I’m in London this Friday and again next week. Any recommendations where I can the job done properly and back within a week?

An Omega Boutique would do that for you.... should be done within a week I would have thought.
There are a few in London, here's one.

I called them this afternoon and they quoted £95 and 7 - 12 working days. Apparently they have to ‘order’ the seals as it’s a waterproof watch. Wouldn’t you think that Omega would keep the seals in stock.
I had one of the Omegamatic Seamasters until recently that I bought new in 1999, and it used a Capacitor type battery for keeping charge. I must have taken it to 3 or 4 'high street' type places who took the back off, had one look, and swiftly put the back back on.
In the end, as a result of a recommendation on here, I sent it to Joe in Anglesey and he sorted it for £40.
Give him a shout... top bloke.

Good chance to peruse the current range too.
I did the same with my Montblanc - bought a tiny tub of grease from Ebay, popped the back off with a case knife, and popped it back on.
You might need an opener if the case back unscrews - a squash ball normally does the trick, or a big lump of blu-tac.
Once you do that it is seconds to change the battery (Renata are normally the brand of choice), grease the seal and all should be fine.
