Advice: IWC IW389101
Discussion
Nearly purchased an IWC last year but got cold feet.
Now IWC has released the IW389101 which I have to say ticks all the boxes for me.
I wanted a textile strap rather than a leather one that came with the watch I was looking at last year.
However the cost is £6,800. Ive paid more for watches in the past but have always managed to get out of them once I got board. Will the IWC have the ability to give me “most” of my money back do you think.
Would you put £6800 in to an IWC
This update is a downgrade from the last Top Gun Chronograph without the flyback function.
I might consider it but only purchase it when I visit Hong Kong (I reside in both UK and HK). This watch will be $61,300 in Hong Kong and I have contacts with IWC which I can get a 25% discount so that equates to £4,437 in today's exchange.

I am a previous IWC owner (Aquatimer IW354805) - internal bezel, steel, 2005 year
My AT was bought 2nd hand for GBP 2,400 only got 1,400 back and that was on trade in from watchfinder buying datejust
My friend bought a Big Pilot petit prince for 11k was only offered 8.5 trade in from WF where he had bought it from!
Seems to me only Rolex and PP hold well, after that probably Omega

Unless you can obtain a huge discount in the UK, I wouldn’t buy an IWC.
I bought an IWC Pilots Chronograph Le Petit Prince 377714 last year - only because I can obtain a 25% discount through my family contacts at IWC in Hong Kong for £3000, which is ok but £4,750 as it is currently priced in the UK is far too much.
