Not a watch Q but a gold medal Q, please move if wrong forum

Relative in need of cash is clearing out old stuff. They've a medal from sports in 1918 Ireland that they thought was worth about £500 but are only getting offers £150 for it....on EBay..'.where would be the best place to sell a gold medal?

Our local non high street non loan lender genuine antiques / gold dealer said based on the parent metal he'd do £175 but that would be going to be melted down. Relative wants medal to remain as medal, but needs cash.....(and yes I have offered but she won't take my money, she is fiercely independent that way).

(I did think to see if I could find the add on EBay and buy it that way but my address seems to be my house on Ebay and I can't see how to change so I'd get found out anyway).

Not an area I know anything about, but what sport and who won it? Surely, trying to find someone who’d have an interest would be the way to add value above the base cost of the metal?

GAA Hurling Championship League 1919, sportsman himself wouldn't be famous in the annals. Googling doesn't seem to bring up any specialist dealers - EBay "sold prices" seem like what Naana thinks it is worth.

Tell Naana to use the "sell one like this" button on one of the completed,sold items. They are obviously in the right place, using the right language, so copy them.

For added sneakiness, find the item, get your mate to buy it for the Naana price, and pay him back.
