So getting a Rolex S/S is harder than it was 10 years ago.
So whilst I wait for my name to be called by Rolex I have decided to get a Nice Tudor watch.
Tudor was not a brand I familiar with but after trying them on they really are great value for money and would be great for everyday use.
But which one

This lovely Grey Heritage Chrono for £2200

https://www.tudorwatch.com/watches/heritage-chrono...

or
the Black Bay GMT

https://www.tudorwatch.com/watches/black-bay-gmt/m...

I like both but only want one as I have committed to an Limited Edition Omega Speedmaster and a Rolex

Any thoughts on which one of the 2 TUDORS is the better buy as I am sure at some point in the future it will be sold to fund something else, lol

The black bay gmt seems to have been very well received and appears to appeal to a wider buyer population. That would be my choice.

I like the Tudors of the last few years. Sensible value, their own movement (often) and just a little different. I bought a North Flag.

I think the gmt would be a better buy because it looks great and looks like a Rolex gmt and that’s a very popular watch now.

So I would get the gmt due to the looks and it will have better residuals (if you want to sell it)

If however you’ve ordered a Rolex gmt, then I might go for the other so I didn’t end up with 2 SS Rolex looking GMT’s. (If you don’t sell it)

I was in the dilemma, not a bad one to suffer
I bought the Crono in blue always like the Montecarlo style but especially as it came with the additional woven strap
hope to get the GMT as well when its sensible for me to do so .

Chrono24 and other websites are chocker block with them; you’re spoilt for choice, new or used.

Admittedly, some new ones are above current RRP, but if you’re going to spend £2.2k whilst you wait, might that be a false economy? Add that to the RRP of the watch you really, really want now and you could probably have it on your wrist by the end of the week. Just a thought. smile

I paid £2200 for a black dial Heritage Chrono about 5 or 6 years ago. Pretty robust (daily wearer and I’m not careful). Had it serviced by Rolex last year for circa £300 including a new crown and bezel.

Can one actually buy a GMT Tudor at this point?
We're they not trading at overs on the 2nd hand market?

Doesn't do It for me. The only Tudor I'd have would be the blue Black Bay 36.

Interesting. I tried the blue crono on earlier today and really liked it
I didn't realise it came with an extra strap too

Replacements are comically priced though.

I have a few Tudors and have tried on a few other models. The heritage has been around a while and I suspect it wouldn’t be an easy one to sell later. The gmt is oversubscribed and so you are unlikely to get a steel bracelet one via a dealer unless you are willing to wait a while.
Personally I think the Pelagos is the best of their range. I also have an Advisor (which whilst I love, suspect will not hold its value well in the short to medium term). My older tudor has increased in value by a few K.

I have a Daytona on order and whilst I'm waiting on the never never list, I've ordered a Tudor GMT. That was in June and that list itself is apparently 18 months. Buying watches isn't straight forward.

Why doesn't that surprise me

It was well into three figures just for the fabric - and they insist on taking the old one and swapping the pins / buckle over. You're far better buying some spring pins and a decent NATO in the same colours if you want that look.

To be fair though, in 2017 I had a full service at Rolex, with a new bezel, new crown and enamel pusher dots and it was £285 - which I thought was very reasonable.

Just to make it harder

I can get the
Tudor Chrono in Grey at a very healthy discount immediately (not sure what list is but I thin i can get it for £2,200)

or

I can wait and get a Tudor GMT

So which one now ?

whoever said buying watches is hard sure was true

Any one had any luck getting discounts from goldsmiths?

There was no price in the window for the chrono and when I asked they said it had been offer recently at £2560 and felt it still was.

Popped back an hour later sans kids and tried it on and it was ringing up on the till at £3100. They called me today to say that the new (list) price was correct.

Tempted to go up there tomorrow and negotiate with them back down to the £2560.

I'd ask if they were invoiced by Rolex before or after the price rise...

Where in the country are you? 18 months sounds very long

I've a GMT on order since early January. Went to Goldsmiths to enquire and was told their list was 2 years.

Went elsewhere and I'm 3rd on their list and should have it around April at the latest.
