Omega Seamaster Chrono Diver Titanium
Discussion
One of these is for sale locally and caught my eye, 2006 model. In need of a service but with papers and box. £2,850, like this:

Really like the design of them (plus nice to see a chronograph that isn't huge) but know very little about the pre-Planet Ocean Omega range.
Anyone got one or had one? What do you think of it? Having had a look on Chrono24 and some other sites it seems a bit steep for one in need of a service, but there looks to be a good number around between £2-2,250 which seems like a pretty good deal to me...

They are great watches. Built like absolute tanks, I have had mine (steel version but otherwise the same) since 2000, it’s never been serviced and still keeps great time (I am not an obsessive time keeping checker.)
I love mine. It is also one of the few chronographs where the pushers work underwater.

I have the 3 hand version - had it from new in 2002 and it has been utterly faultless (it's had 1 service back with Omega in that time). I've had many other watches in that time but still adore the Seamaster and I think they are actually slightly appreciating in value (both perceived & monetary).
I'd be trying to negotiate a service within that price or getting as much of the cost of a service off the price. But other than that - buy it.

Sorry to bump again, but could do with some advice:
I've been looking into this Chrono Diver which seems well-priced for the condition, but has no papers and a newer titanium Speedmaster strap in lieu of the older style one.
I'm not that fussed about the strap- I prefer this style, though I imagine it would probably put some people off and potentially devalue it. Should I be worried about the lack of papers, or would sending off to Omega ? I've never bought anything like this second-hand before- I'm mostly doing it because I think they look fantastic but I do feel like I should at least consider potential resale in the future.
Am I better off just waiting for one to crop up with all the right documentation and paying a slight premium (or import from the US and get stung for import tax)?

I'd prefer the original (or at least correct) bracelet personally. Is there any paperwork to support the recent service and who serviced it? I could live with no papers if the price/condition is right but as usual with these situations, you really need to 'buy the seller'.
If it was me, I'd hang on till the right watch comes along.

Does it need to be Titanium?
My preference is definitely for Ti as I prefer the colour (the added rarity helps too).MarkJS said:

I'm thinking this too. I'm not in any rush and I think I'd rather get something that's spot on...HM-2 said:

The bracelet on that watch does not fit it at all, if you look at the 7th (I think) picture you can see it does not fit the case at all. That speedy bracelet is meant to fit into the right end links so looks a bit weird. I would try and do a deal without the ill fitting bracelet and just stick it on a nato.I've been looking into this Chrono Diver which seems well-priced for the condition, but has no papers and a newer titanium Speedmaster strap in lieu of the older style one.

The genuine Seamaster bracelets are expensive, the steel ones are about £500 I bet the Ti version is closer to a grand.
Personally I would not pay a premium for “box and papers” unless it was an absolute full set. If it was a year old it would be a different matter, but it’s more like 20 years old. Saying that I bought mine brand new and was never given the COSC card...
The seller seems legit, has 2000+ feedback on eBay mainly selling decent watches.
I have one of these Ti Seamaster Chrono's.
Really great watch just mine's not really getting the wrist time it deserves any longer. Only draw back to the titanium is it picks up scratches far to easily. But being Ti it has a nice weight to it. I have thought about selling it, but have no idea what I'd replace it with.

Also had one of these for a while which I wish I'd have kept.

Arrived around 11:45 this morning. It's a bit mucky, I've given it a quick wipe down but it could do with a proper clean. I also need to source some half-links because it's slightly loose (or bite the bullet and buy a microadjustment clasp).

In person, it looks even better than the pictures- it really is almost immaculate. 80* serial number makes it a 2006 model, so probably one of the last to leave the production line.

Managed to source one, very recent service with Omega (but no papers) for a price I'm really happy with.
Should have it on Friday!
Looks good. Can I possibly ask where did you source it from and roughly how much was it? Thanks. Should have it on Friday!

That is lovely - congratulations.
The crystal will need to be replaced I think if you want rid of the scratch. You might think I'm crazy (and assuming you have no recent service history), but I'd be tempted to send it to Omega for the work doing and a service at the same time. It will then be tip-top for many years to come.
Either way, enjoy it!
