Hi folks,

I've been doing a shed load of traveling recently and I've been to Madrid twice in the space of two months.

On my last visit, I was checking out the Omega Speedmaster Racing at the airport. I was really tempted but ultimately backed down because I wanted a Moonwatch (which I recently picked up)

Today I'm back at the airport (as I type) and the same watch is still here and tempting me again. I love the face, the rubber strap and general feel of the watch. Plus other than being a speedy it's very different to my other watches.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Can they take a beating and are they reliable? It'd mainly be used on a weekend casually.

Price includes discount and tax refund is £2.5k

Thoughts welcome. Am I mad?

I really like this watch, the contrasting face/dial combo with yellow details is my favourite version.

I tried it on last week but at 40mm it is a little too small, feels smaller than 40mm. I believe now discontinued and a newer 42mm version due

If you like it, go for it!

As above, if you like it go for it.
As for taking a beating it probably won't be any different to any other Speedmaster.

quick google shows that the market price is a little below what you're being asked for, so the discount and tax refund appear artificial. Buy it if you like it but it doesn't appear to be a bargain.

Thanks guys.

I took the plunge (and nearly missed my flight in the process)!

Its tucked away for the flight now and I'll look forward to enjoying it tomorrow.

What won me over? Not price (although that always helps).

I was seeking something different from my other SS watches (Black Bay 58 and Moonwatch). So the rubber strap appealed.

Its so comfortable

In my opinion the face is amazing, even better in person

Its not the yellow detailed version, which I personally couldn't live with (although I see the appeal)

It'll save the Moonwatch from any weekend / casual duty and share its time with the BB58.

That takes my collection to 5 with some 2 likely to make way. I think 3 is the perfect collection size for me, otherwise I just won't use them as often as they deserve. I could be tempted by a pilot watch of some description one day though.

Yeah to be honest I had a brief look around but was more focused on reviews than prices. I see there are a few kicking around for around $3000 or there abouts. I managed to sneak a little more off by being cheeky (and in a rush) so it came in at £2350 in the end which I was comfortable with.

It is lovely after looking at it I quite fancy it myself. I hadn’t really noticed it before.

Lovely watch - well done.

I have a Moonwatch too - that's sufficiently different to be completely justifiable.

I have a coaxial movement in another of my Omegas, albeit not a chronograph - it's stunningly accurate.

That looks great, congrats. Not seen one that color. Is it black or dark blue?

It is a black dial, lovely watch.

Had a look at the new Seamaster nice but this is a bit different.

I already have the Moon Watch and a Planet Ocean.
