I had a chance to have a feel and play around with a non-Limited Grand Seiko GMT this week, there is no doubt in my mind that these watches are moving the game on in ways that Rolex and Omega are not quite matching at the moment.

Here is a picture of the limited model:

Here is a good video of the Limited Edition GMT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JX88Vj4biU0

I then got the pleasure of handling a GS Peacock limited edition (high beat), not for sale and I could not try it on. wow, what an amazing work of art.

I was thinking on the way home, is there a better SS sport watch ever produced than these two watch designs? Have they re-defined what to expect from a watch of this type?

I’m not trying to be contrary but what exactly do you think has “moved the game on” exactly?

I think they’re nice, the cock eyed date and power meter ruin that one in particular but having tried one on they don’t scream anything more than “novel movement” to me.

Novel movement is to be applauded however, I just don’t see anything overly amazing compared to the competition apart from a little extra finesse with the detailing. Which I think they need to do to pull the buyers in from the established competition anyway.

The way they’re gushed over by people I expected them to be AL&S quality for Rolex money.

I can’t help thinking they’re elevated by people who don’t like Rolex but are desperate to find something else to love.

No shortage of stuff to love that isn't yet another of the near million Rolexes produced each year.

Not a GMT but plenty to love here imho regardless of which manufacturer it comes from:

This was the only Spring Drive I've ever had but it was a limited edition model I did enjoy it
But it did go wrong once , it wasn't auto winding but 800 something euro later was all good again

Was considering a VC SS 2018 watch as my next purchase. The build quality and hand finishing of these new Seikos (albeit not a hand finished movement) is beyond my expectations. The macro shots of the blue dial special edition GS are beyond what rolex and omega are putting out.

Not a "Grand", but this SNR033 is lovely if a big at 45mm. From the Prospex LX range. RRP is 5600 Euros.
