I'm looking to invest in a Omega Tintin and wanted some views. Some articles suggest it could be quite a future classic.

I don't know much about the investment side but I would only by one if you like the look of the watch and want to enjoy wearing it.

Thanks, I know what you mean, but I have about 8 other watches, 2 of which are fairly middle-high end, which I wear (Louis Moinet Jules Verne Instrument III and a Wyler Code R)

I don't want to use the Omega. I hear they are become more sought after and just wanted to get some more views.

Ta :-)

I also have a few omegas. Most of which have gone up in value. I’d say that the Tintin will continue to appreciate. No idea how much though.

Potentially already missed the boat as most sellers are asking double the RRP.

They are going for 7-8k on Chrono24 which isn’t too much more than the original rrp if I’m not mistaken

Why do these watches seem to attract such attention thus "increase in value". I have bought a few Omega's over the years because I like them, I like a plain dial on a speedmaster or seamaster. Should I be buying these exotic dial oddball Omegas? or is it just a fashion thing.

I’m not sure what you mean by being “collectable”? Does it mean you’re buying it to seek a monetary gain in future? If so, stick to stainless steel Rolex sports models.

I thought RRP was about £4000. Happy to be told otherwise though.

Lots of better investment watches than those. It’s the default choice for people who don’t invest in watches.

To put the price now into perspective, these were going for approx £4000 in 2017. So not sure if the bubble has already burst.

Also they aren't an ''official'' Tintin endorsed product, which in some way adds to the rarity I guess. For me it would have to be about really liking the watch instead of the investment value.

Yes, but that often involves going through the Rolex dealer network. I'd rather invest in a trip to Thailand and contract syphilis.

What else can outperform a ceramic stainless steel Daytona then?

I’m not going to tell you which watches to buy as its for you to do your own research, however I’ve bought 5 watches since 2012, paying a total of approx £24k. They are now worth over £40k. All I’m saying is I doubt you would have achieved this with Rolex stainless steel sports. These aren’t investments by the way. I don’t plan on selling any.

Not sure. I don’t own any Rolex and don’t have much knowledge of them. Tell me how much I would expect to pay for one today and how much would it be worth in 10 years, and I’ll come back to you.

Like I said I don’t know much about Rolex? What’s BLNR stand for? Was the watch in good condition? All papers and boxes etc? How much is it worth today?
