Panerai Luminor Due - thoughts?
Discussion
Hi all. I've wanted a Panerai of some sort for a while but have always felt that they were a little large for day-to-day wear (particularly in height). However, the Due range seems to have addressed that concern.
I appreciate that for hardcore Panerai fans the Due range might be seen as a deviation from the 'true' design, but I was curious to the opinions of anyone who has seen them / owned them / considered them.
I'm looking at a Titanium 45mm (PAM00729) as the 45mm has the display back, but am used to wearing ~40mm watches (datejust, sub, portugieser) so not sure if I should forego the display back and go 42mm.
They seem to be pretty hard to find physically to view, so am looking at buying online, hence being interested in the views of those who have experience.

I hope you have a wrist to match because otherwise it'll look comical...They seem to be pretty hard to find physically to view, so am looking at buying online, hence being interested in the views of those who have experience.

Aren't 8" wrists the minimum for PH membership?
If you like It, I'd have no hesitation but just ensure water resistance is adequate if you want to get aquatic with it. Some Dues are a tad less rated (a nonsense for most in any event)
Glad I qualify for the club!

I might take the sub out in the water but usually I'll wear something I'm less worried about. The Due would be for work and/or casual, so not too worried about the water resistance. I still don't understand how 30m WR equates to being able to shower in it - we've got a nice shower but I've not managed to get 30m under water in it yet!jke11y said:
I have small wrists and tried on the smaller size Due a few months ago. It was a lovely thing, and I loved the colours. I think it was the same size as PAM238 I wear but thinner. Would like.
It is the relatively thin design that appeals to me. I've read some comments that the proportions are more balanced on the 42mm whereas the 45mm has more of a pancake sort of look (!) Half my problem is I don't know where to go and see one in the flesh, so am considering buying without trying on first, which I accept is not ideal.halfpenny43 said:
If you like it and your happy with how it wears - buy it.
I was in a similar position 6 or so months ago. Loved the look and history of Panerai but always thought they were too large for my nearly 7” wrists.
Found a left-handed model for a good price (PAM115) and it really love it !

Very nice - I'm left handed but also wear a watch on my left wrist, which I am led to believe is heresy!I was in a similar position 6 or so months ago. Loved the look and history of Panerai but always thought they were too large for my nearly 7” wrists.
