Lorne Gifford - Offshore Chronographs

I’m sad to report that I’ve just seen on his LinkedIn profile that Lorne Gifford has passed away. For those of you who don’t know, Lorne was the man behind the Offshore Professional Chronograph that I know a number of PHers own (myself included).
He was a PH regular, often seen debating in these forums and sharing his seemingly endless knowledge with us all.
Despite never meeting him, my correspondence with him during the buying process and later, as I started my career in a similar field to his, revealed a true gentleman who was as kind and generous with his time as he was strong in his convictions.
Raise a glass, wear a watch he made, whatever you so wish. Thanks all

Searched for this after Desolate's post in the wrist check thread. I disagreed with some of his posts over the years but when I pulled him up on one he emailed me and we both ended up apologising to each other-it isn't even there anymore as we both deleted what we'd wrote out of respect to the other!
Such a shame, respect is due for his work in creating what he wanted in a watch.

The overriding impression I got was consistency and strength in his beliefs, be it the terribleness of Tag Heuers or the latest innovation in some subsea engineering obscurity. Such a shame, respect is due for his work in creating what he wanted in a watch.

I think it's a pretty amazing legacy that 150ish people are wearing a watch that he singlehandedly masterminded. Very cool if you ask me. I own #56.
