I've been looking at getting a similar watch to the one above in the photo, are they any good reliability and finish wise?
I've had the watch from new (2010) its a Panerai 177 its made from Titanium, only 11 a year came to the UK were as 33 steel models Know as the 111 would make it across , It was discontinued in 2013 but was in production for 9 years .
I've never had a problem with the watch its a real head turner and it has everything a Panerai should ie; a sandwich dial which gives it a 3D look next a small sub second dial so you know its running and then most importantly of all .
Its a hand winder what's the point in having that cool looking crown system if you don't get to use it ever other day
I've had a few Panerai's, 190 , 292 and sold them but this is a keeper

I’m sorely tempted my either a 352 or 328 as would like to have a bracelet option. I believe it’s the same watch just different material?
Ideally I’ll find places to try them both as have no idea of the real world difference between steel and Ti..
Either way, I’m pretty sure that a Panerai is next on the list.

It's a lovely watch but I couldn't get over the Tantalum / Tantalium discrepancy. I know that Tantalium isn't incorrect, but it would still bug me (although the fact it's worth thousands would offset this a bit I suppose)
Actually Tantalium is the wrong spelling! Its ment to be Tantalum! How do i know i hear you ask, well im a high value metal dealer and i deal in it! Thats why i bought it! LolSULAND said:

Suppose it's a bit like sulfur - the IUPAC guidance is that sulfur is the correct spelling, so over time, sulphur will become archaic in the same way as Tantalium has. It's just that the sulfur / sulphur debate is a bit more recent.
Anyway, nice watch

Bought my 177 twelve years ago , fancied a 176 but couldn’t source one .Know as the 111 would make it across , It was discontinued in 2013 but was in production for 9 years .

Think I paid about £2200 ? , would that be about right ?
Hardly wear it to be honest, and keep saying I should wear it more , still got everything including the rubber strap which I’ve never used yet .
Lovely watch , surprisingly light fit it’s size as well.

She only has a 6'' wrist but looks good
Never was a fan of the 176 for me it was the 111 or the 177 and that won hands down
The leather strap has never been fitted to the watch looks far to dressy for me

Nice
The somewhat weird thing about Panerai (might be a good/bad thing depending on your opinion) is that because they are so rare and distinctive you actually get random owners saying hi or acknowledging you
Also, having had one stolen recently it's nice to know the Paneristi look out for them
