Looking for opinions on this watch.

I'm definitely interested in the brand and some of the other models but never considered this actual one.

I've recently been offered one as a trade for my Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary. It's 3 years old with all documents and in great condition.

Potentially tempted purely because it's so different to everything else I have.

Would be good to get some opinions from owners or people whom have considered this watch. Some snaps and a link

I wasn't impressed with my one I got from new and sent it back 3x in the first 6 months
Trouble with crown and the bracelet I ordered extra, keeping wasn't great started out at 14 sec a day
They got it down to 8 sec's and after I said surely you can do better than that they told there watches
Are not COSC rated so that's good enough

I sold the watch and got a Rolex never looked back

considered it. too many good quality replica versions for the original black/silver.

i wouldn’t be able to justify a new one but would have to look at the newer colour options and in that price range the new ALS Odyssey would get a look - if i could justify one and if i could get my hands on one.

all told although the AP has a pull factor i really like the latest Omegas as a daily wear. i think i would have to wear a rep for a while to see how i got on with the size and design before i jumped in.

I think they are a great design and something different, but how they were ever thought to be a 'divers' watch is beyond me. How you're supposed to set decompression times with a crown on the LHS of the watch that needs to be unscrewed, turned and then screwed back in wearing diving gloves etc. rolleyes

I'd agree the coloured dials, Diver Chrono etc. are more unique and fewer reps about.

I’ve had one for a few years and still really like it. I bought it when I was looking for something a little different and rarer than my Sub and Daytona. It’s a good holiday watch and slips under the radar a bit. It’s also really chunky which I like in a watch. It was my first AP but led to my second as I liked the case shape/brand/style so much.

What was the second AP you picked up? I'm looking at my first as I go up a 'level' in the watch world. Whilst I like the Offshore, I am more interested in the standard Royal Oak as it's a little slimmer and under the radar.

Personally, I would keep the Speedmaster - it's a more attractive design. But these things are so subjective - you must go with what butters your personal muffin.

I looked at a Royal Oak for a very long time (not this particular model) but went for something else ultimately.

I have one and I love it, I have quite a decent size watch collection but my AP Diver still gets worn a lot. It is a really good casual/holiday watch and is a bit different from the usual suspects.

It can be a bit of a scratch magnet so if you like your watches pristine this might not be for you but it is also quite versatile as changing the straps can create different looks. I have mine on a green camo Horus strap right now which gives it a very casual fun look and it gets a lot of comments but if I put it back on the original black strap it is a much smarter looking piece and more under the radar.

Thanks folks, good comments either way.

I'm going to take a look this weekend.

I love my Apollo 11 50th, it's a sublime watch but I can't help but thinking I like the original just that little bit more.

I'm being offered a straight swap for the AP due to the (current) inflated values of the Omega. I think they'll drop though. They made 6969 of them, so once more are out in the wild I'm sure they'll dive a bit.

Thanks

I picked up a ROO Chrono Safari with a brown hornback strap and a cream face. I realised that pretty much all much watches had black faces and fancied something a litle bit different.

I do like the standard slimmer ROs as well and if I could only have one watch for all occasions a blue or grey faced standard RO would be on the list.

Given you can pick the 50th up for £8k from a high street jeweler from a monetary standpoint it seems like a no brainer.

Is that right? Here in the UAE there is no chance, but then I guess it's a smaller market.

Not questioning the statement per say, just wasn't sure if they were easy to pick up elsewhere or not.

It wouldn't be a value based decision, but it's still nice to know if I'm getting a perceived better end of the deal. Even if my watch is practically brand new and the AP is 3yrs old.

The AP is out of warranty by the way, but the plan would be to get it all checked out.

Will see what it's like on the wrist.

Thanks

5 years with one, beaten to death and still have it in regular rotation.

Its by no means a subtle watch, especially on a lime green strap during the summer, but having had a few Royal Oaks now this is the only one that's actually been a keeper.

I flirted with ones of these briefly a while back but the day I got it, I managed to pull the crown stem right out!

A lot of people say it’s a fragile movement in a macho case.

Big fan of the offshore range, and something I've wanted to add for a while.

I do like the diver, but my favourite of the offshores has to be "the elephant". Image not my own etc..
