Does anyone else find that replacement batteries never last as long as the original ones?
will all depend on the quality of the replacement battery used.We always use Renata batteries but the thing customers also forget is the lifespan also depends on the watch. Quartz watches need servicing if they're to be efficient.

Spot on. Too many jewellers fit cheap batteries these days. But, that's because customers don't want to pay much for a battery. Swings and roundabouts.

My Tag Heuer quartz battery did 5 years.. daily use.
Surely all watch batteries are in daily use until they go flat...10 years is certainly impressive if the watch was kept running.
3 years ago I bought my wife and I Tag's.
The battery in hers lasted 18 months and needed replacing, and then when I looked at her watches the other day I noticed that it was doing the 5 second jump to show it needed changing again.
Mine is still on the same battery it came with!?

Retailers rarely check the dates on batteries. They could be sat in the factory for months before shipping, then sat at the distributors for months before sent to the retailer, then, if it's a rare battery and they are not rotating the stock it could be years out of date before it goes into a watch!

Some watches go into sleep mode if not used. You can also stop most quartz watches by pulling out the crown.

Yup in box running all the time!10 years is certainly impressive if the watch was kept running.
I wonder if as it was from a micro brand there was less chance of batteries being sat round for a few years prior to shipping.
So is it worth servicing or just change the battery?
