Great thinking but how many of these dodgy tw@ts with knives would stab him just for lobbing it?

This is what I was thinking.

I wonder if the crook knew he had a Rolex, or was it pot luck? Might have been "Scoped out" and followed from work.

Lucky guy, risking his life for a stupid watch. It's also clear he has no intention of defending himself nor running away. So he's effectively escalating the situation without being ready to finish it. The moment he threw the watch would have been his getaway, it would be easier to run with a belt in his pants though.
Honestly, I can't imagine having anything on me besides my kids that I'd give my life for.
Heat of the moment thinking will probably have been a factor here, but a very stupid decision nonetheless.
