Has anyone else been contacted byRolex AD regards new watch?
Discussion
Just been contacted by my Rolex AD regards batman GMT , has anyone else been miraculously offered this deal of a century where apparantly you had to wait on some sort of waiting list unless you where matey with the manager, Would you still go for it considering the situation we are all in ????
Yes, see the Rolex/bubble burst thread. I had a call yesterday saying an SD43 I ordered has come up ... also, my mate received a call yesterday to say his bimetal Daytona is ready .... from the same AD. He's had a few watches from them inc SS Daytona, SD43, and a batman.
So, either there's more watches appearing all of a sudden or customer (higher up the 'list') are turning them down, so they're becoming available for less important customers (like me) or those without a long lasting relationship with the AD.

If you can afford the batgirl, then buy it. I can't see the economy so much that they will discount them.If you are buying to flip now or later on, then that's a risk I wouldn't be taking.

Sorry I’m a bit confused, have you been offered a watch or a place on a list? If you’ve been offered a watch and you can afford it why not go for it? Or did you go on a list just to sell it?

TT Daytona is not a hard piece to come by, my AD had a White Dial TT and said if I wanted a black dial, he can order one in from Rolex UK, as they had stock. Of course this is now not possible as Rolex UK is now shut until further notice. So, either there's more watches appearing all of a sudden or customer (higher up the 'list') are turning them down, so they're becoming available for less important customers (like me) or those without a long lasting relationship with the AD.

Many people on wait lists are now getting the call as those up the chain are now not closing the deal due to whatever reason.

I got a call today to actually buy the watch from WOS . Bought a sub date over a year ago from them and still got it..If you’ve been offered a watch and you can afford it why not go for it? Or did you go on a list just to sell it?

The reason is that they can no longer flip them immediately for a quick profit. Many people on wait lists are now getting the call as those up the chain are now not closing the deal due to whatever reason.
Spoke to AD last week about these 'lists' and told i'm now on the list for a sub and a daytona.....no such call yet....who knows what's going on?? What i do know is that if he called, he'd have a sale very quickly.....all these delays and inconsistencies are just driving me to take me money elsewhere and probably spend more on a vintage piece.
So, if your AD is looking for a sale to a buyer that is fed up of being messed around for over a year by Mappin and Webb, you can always send them my way!
I've found this whole debacle over the last few years, totally ridiculous.

WoS makes sense. They have plenty of group stock and being such a big chain, they really need to move stock to pay running costs.El stovey said:

I've just contacted their main email address as all of the shop ones have been switched off (which i have just been informed). Explained the situation and was told that selling was only ever done face to face and i would have to wait. I've sent them my details, including a link to my company's website to show i'm not a grey dealer and offered to do a video call.....radio silence.
Nope definatly called by one of the AD staff working from home to my personal mobile, Has given me 24hrs to consider the sale Blue black gmt, I would need to pay in full for the watch but not be able to collect until shop open, I dont know how I feel about that, stumping up nearly 8k for a watch I wont get until they reopen for business, nor if Im actually bothered to be honest.Dominic H said:

Just had a back pedalling email saying ‘some staff are wfh’ however for me to be registered on the list I have to wait until the shops reopen! All seems pretty ridiculous.....chased up other AD and as if by magic a sub date may suddenly be available tomorrow! Oh this is a merry dance....meanwhile I keep lovingly looking at a beautiful patina vintage sub....I’m now very torn!
I recently did a post on the subject on how I thought that all of a sudden I would be getting a call from a grovelling AD, When I answered the phone today there on the other end was a lovely salesman from WOS whom was extremely polite, not like the awful staff in the shops who dont even give you a second glance. He was a bit surprised though when I said I was expecting a call, anyway I have been toying with it in my mind all day and I just cant get exited about a new watch when I have a perfectly nice new sub that I dont even wear that much, Im even less sure if I could wear a watch known as a Batgirl, tbh I dont really give a toss anymore and there are far more important things than watches. I remember going into the shop about december time enquiring about the wait time and a very smug salesman told me that the wait list had gone up to 3 years or never,I probably just didnt fit the image, funny how life changes. ,

M&W only requested I pay a deposit and the balance, should I want the watch, on collection. Assume they're trying to hit sales targets!I had a call from my AD on the 18th March to say my Pepsi had arrived, i paid by BACS the same day and arranged to collect it on the 27th ( my Birthday ) then the shop shut a few days later.
No big deal, it's an AD so suspect they aren't going anywhere and it is something to look forward to when all this is over... I didn't have to wait too long despite only buying 1 watch from them ( wife's DJ last year ) Although i did explain my history through another local jeweller who used tobe the AD in the City.
He could see i still had my Hulk and SS Daytona so knows the watch was for me and not to sell on, be interesting to see if i get papers or if they get held back for a year.
