It had a good inning, been on many adventures, been in swamps and jungles, run marathons, climbed mountains, went scuba diving, for more than a decade. But now it has gone to the great watchmaker in the sky.

What shall I replace it with?

What do you want from your next watch?

I've gotten my father this one and it looks way smarter than it has any right too:

Casio GA-2100-1AER

PS: All the pictures I found online make it look bigger than it actually is. Both my father and I have 7.5" wrists and it wears smaller than you'd expect.

Good question. I want it to be inexpensive, rugged, visible at night, waterproof, shockproof. I think that’s it. Nothing fancy.

I have a Sea Dweller and.a Sea Master for when I want to wear a smarter watch. This one will get battered.

The G-shock I posted fits the bill I think. It was 100 EUR smile.

That looks ace tbh.

I did get the one with the white markers as I found the grey on black not readable enough.

It was just the first images found. Yes the white markers are easier to read, but there is a full metal mod but it is around 70 quid, the face is 20. There is black, silver, rose gold and gold.

Just can't decide which one yet but all the octagon g shocks are in stock on the official site. You can get a 10% discount for supplying your email before buying. I like the fact there is a big mod scene so can swap and change.

I have a all black casioak with the Metal case mod. Looks ace.... But if you are going to batter the G-Shock, I think it's better left as standard plastic.

In addition, the casioak is very flat, bezel to glass, so there is no protection. If you looking for a tough durable G, I don't think the Casioak is the right watch. There are loads of the new carboncore variants around now in more wearable sizes, there is plenty to choose from.

Considered a square one? GW-M5610 pretty much defines “nothing fancy”. ~£80 ish
