What’s the trade offering on these brand new unworn B&P at the moment?

Clients house broke into, insurers replacing stolen Daytona, client doesn’t want it. Will sell to trade or I can make an offer.

I’ve got option of buying one in a couple of weeks.....

Sorry no help with your point but just interested in how this works.

Does the insurer have to pay overs to source a watch, do they have special access to stock or do they just send a cheque for the RRP?

Not sure exactly on this one.

Some policies are an as new replacement so when my Yachtmaster was stolen years ago, I got paid out new rrp for a watch I’d bought for 2/3rds of rrp, insurers knew this as I supplied my purchase invoice showing lesser amount.

My client had a steel Daytona which I don’t think they make anymore hence they are replacing with a ceramic. I’m sure they offered him the cash but knowing they sell for more he’s stated he wants the replacements.

What shocks me is that it happened a few weeks back and it’s ready to collect from WOS in 2 weeks....

Not calling you out on this but as i understand it they normally give a voucher for the value of the loss? Where is the new said watch coming from? Is it WOS.

No worries, not offended LOL.

I think all insurance companies have their own policies. I’ve been sent the email thread from a WOS rep, asking which store my client wants it sending to.

Admittedly the email could be false but

1 known the client 15 years, he doesn’t need £20k
2 we look after all the clients IT including email
3 he’s not tech savvy so faking emails would be way beyond him.

Yes it’s WOS, unsure of his insurers but I can ask as they are doing a stellar job it seems!

I took the cash for my stolen YM as I knew it was more than I could resell for, my insurers offered me replacement or cash so it’s not always vouchers. My insurers were AXA btw

Not always the case, some (surprisingly household name) insurers have good relationships with WOS and can replace what was lost, waiting list or not.

They must buy LOADS of Rolexes each year for customers replacements so it’s not surprising, I’d be surprised if a grey dealer could outbuy a big insurance company. In terms of playing the AD waiting list game they must be premier league.

I’ll try and find out who he is insured with. Poor guy had his Range Rover nicked too

Well im still not convinced WOS will sort a new Daytona in a couple of weeks? But let us know if that happens. Saying that i suppose who they know at WOS would help?

A client of mine had 2x Submariners stolen last summer (2019) that were -2yrs old, he was contacted and during the discussion he remarked he'd prefer a SD43 and GMT BLNR, he had them within a matter of weeks and paid the extra.

More to the point, where would the trade be bid wise on this item? That’s where I need to be in order to get it!

I'm guessing its entirely probable. Major insurers with a contract with WOS would probably buy hundreds if not thousands of Rolex each year. What makes you think they would not be first in the queue? They'll also be buying all the less desirable stock & other brands, plus jewellery, etc., etc..

Easiest way to find out market value is to call one of the Grey's and offer them what you want to buy....

Watchfinder will no doubt give you the lowest figure. As to the market as a whole, I think it's worth around £12-16k at trade depending on how desperate they want the stock.

I imagine £16.5k for an unworn black dial!

They’ll tell you it’s the wrong colour dial to bid you down.

If it’s from who I think it’s from that’ll be an offer subject to payment after it’s been sold , not an outright purchase,

I have to agree with BUSTER that the price is very high for outright stock purchase. Most probably a price for Consignment (sale or return).

Jonamv8 did mention it was WF

I wonder what The Edinburgh Watch Company or BQ Watches would offer

The thing about SOR watches is the time it takes to be paid if the company you use sell it online due to “distance selling” rules or C24 selling policies, can take a month to be paid after they “sell” it

That’s definitely from Watchfinder and there is no waiting around for payment from them.
