I have a TAG Monaco that I bought a few years ago as a present to myself and am now thinking about buying a new every day watch. Thoughts are to stick with TAG and I really like these. Does anyone have one and if so opinions on it please

Never heard of them so I looked. Similar looking I suppose but I wouldn’t buy one

I started with a quartz F1 and then got an auto Monaco.

That one looks like quartz? Do you want quartz as a daily?

People here tend to dislike TAG quartz as it's a cheap movement in an overpriced case.

The outlet stores usually have good discounts on these, which addresses that somewhat.

I can recommend this Longines too, if you want to mix things up a bit. Also available in quartz.

Go for it. Haggle, see how much you can get as a discount, and you'll be sub 1000 for a very solid, very good looking sports watch.

Alternatives at this price point will be Seiko (lovely too, but a different brand appeal to TAG), smaller brands that play well in the watch community but nobody else will know what it is, or Longines, Rado, Hamilton etc which I'm sure you've looked at.

If you like the TAG brand, want the benefits of quartz or don't care either way, and like this watch then it's a no brainer.

For info, the closest Seiko version is here:
https://www.seikoboutique.co.uk/prospex-1968-reint...

Will have similar build quality, perhaps the bracelet on the TAG is better. It's automatic, with a dependable 6R movement (nothing special but will work for ages without service). Its 42mm not 43mm, but pretty close.

If you want a blue dial version you get a black bezel. If you want the metal bezel you get a black dial. You can't get the metal bezel with the blue dial, but there are lots of people who swap them aftermarket. There's a green dial / black bezel version coming in March.

There's a similar Longines here (and on offer too)
https://www.watches-of-switzerland.co.uk/Longines-...

It has a plain fixed bezel rather than a dive bezel, so looks more similar to the steel on the TAG.

My first new watch was a Formula 1 Chrono quartz, sadly the battery just packed up. I know that a lot of people say that you can get a good auto for less, or a better watch for the price, but I do like mine.

It started as a "on the nice days", but until I stopped leaving the house, it was my go to grab watch, when I didn't want to set the times on an auto.

I really like it and still enjoy it.

One thing that put me off this range of Tag recently was the fact the clasp was stamped. I feel that's a bit harsh at this price point but could just be me.

I have a TAG "James Hunt" limited edition which is very similar to an F1, I also have an Omega Speedmaster Racing, a Porsche Design and various other bits and pieces, but my favourite every day watch is my Citizen Eco-Drive Red Arrows which retail around £280. It is a quality watch for little money, and doesn't require winding, or battery replacement, it is great!
