This will be a long story cut short because I can not upload the pictures I wanted. One of the watches I own is a blue dial AP Royal Oak 15400. I am thinking about selling it for a car. What do you think?
I am a bigger car enthusiast than watch enthusiast. I get more enjoy from cars. However the AP value continues to rise and I do adore it but physically you get so much more with the car. I do not wear my watches because of lockdown and worried I will regret it when life goes back to normal.

If your considering selling it its not a keeper. Basically a simple rule. You will probably always have a tinge of regret. Alternatively you may die with a s
t load of watches in a box in a drawer.
I know which of my watches I would sell, and which I never will - unless I have to.
As this is a discretionary sale, buy the car and enjoy it. You can't use everything you own at once!
Assuming it's a worthy car...

I bought this original 1965 Ed white Speedy and I am totally over the moon. Excuse the joke. It has so much character, charm and historically important makes my modern watches look too flash and “obvious” when you see the d***s buying them. When I wear the Ed White I feel like a watch enthusiast.
I'd get the car. And I love watches - cars too!
I waited patiently for my 'grail' watch - a Patek Philippe. When I got it, I was rather underwhelmed to be honest - a bit too flimsy looking for a sports watch and possibly too valuable to wear in London.
It doubled in value and I sold it - but bought another watch with the profit (Sky Dweller) as I have the cars I want.
The point is, if you are considering selling it - then you don't love it. Otherwise the thought would never enter your mind.

If you have the space and will use it, a Ferrari.
I live in London, having too many cars already, no indoor parking, and the ULEZ means something like an F355 is a bad idea (the Ferrari I really want is an F355 Spider in TDF and crema or tan interior). I was about to buy an FF and realised it was just too fast, and just too much car for my situation, and too much money for something that would get so little use. Cars also cost a lot more than a watch to keep going.
I have been buying and wearing watches instead.
But I'd rather have (and be able to use) the Ferrari.
I recently impulse bought a Maserati GranSport LE, because, well, life's too short not to have an Italian V8 in the drive, and they are cheap, even for mint ones like the one I have found. Stupid boy.
That said, I bought a Rolex Yacht Master (old one) in December and I love it, wear it almost every day, just in the house. So the right watch will give you a lot of pleasure too - if you wear it. It will probably stay a lot longer than the GranSport.

Who are you turning into Harry? Yachtmaster, Maserati? Hahahaha
You were just a simple country lad when I met you - you've become Carlos Fandango.
It's all gone wrong - and it's your fault!!!/ Although if I had a place out away from London, like you do, I would be collecting cars, not watches and driving my wife insane. At least she can ignore my watch habit. You were just a simple country lad when I met you - you've become Carlos Fandango.

When lockdown is over and we are all safe, we will be having that lunch.

Definitely - particularly as you're rubbish at keeping in touch.I hope that little French restaurant survives - I've sent them the occasional £100 as it's what I'd maybe spend on lunches I've not been able to enjoy.
