Very Interesting but how are they guaranteeing authenticity of the watch.
Any problems between buyer and seller with collecting cars, just looking at the T&C's they kind of wash their hands of. Watches are far more likely to be knock off then a 911 so will be interesting to see what security is on offer for buyers.

Yes this question has been asked and i think it's down to the buyer to be happy with what he/she is buying before handing over any payment.Any problems between buyer and seller with collecting cars, just looking at the T&C's they kind of wash their hands of. You are right about the amount of fakes around but then i know of a dealer locally who had supplied a fake he took in PX so maybe all hat glitters at dealers isn't necessarily gold

There have been well docmented cases of auction houses being sued for fakes, I guess because they had experts authenticate them.
Not sure I'd be willing to handover money for a watch without knowing it's 100% legit.

I was wondering about this too.

Fair point but how would you know 100% what you’ve bought from a dealer is totally legit. There have been well docmented cases of auction houses being sued for fakes, I guess because they had experts authenticate them.

As mentioned above I know of a local dealer that deals in high end watches with a very flash premises that took in a fake and sold it back to a member of the public.
Collecting Cars has been a huge success with genuine sellers and buyers and although cars have V5’s etc I’d be more comfortable buying a watch on the new website.

I guess you just need to factor in the cost of authentication

You can never be 100% but I'd feel more comfortable with a dealer as opposed to some guy who could disappear off into the ether once you have an issue.

I agree if you’re buying a new piece from an AB but some of these glitzy shops that are all over Instagram etc I’d steer clear of . I guess you just need to factor in the cost of authentication
I’ve seen how they operate and sometimes what they are taking in.
As we know there is lots of cash involved in watches so one has to be very careful.
It’ll be interesting to see how this goes but I suspect it’ll be down to the individual to be happy with their purchase prior to parting with the monies.
Monday is launch day so I’ll be watching with interest but like CC’s I suspect it’ll take a little while to really get going but I think it will be a success.

There's a very spectacular 5711 PP Double sealed never been touched. Be interesting to see how it goes.
But once opened loses a chunk, so it’ll be put in a safe for a decade or so.

That’ll be worth watching, a virgin PP 5711.

Seems like it has been for the last 4 years. But once opened loses a chunk, so it’ll be put in a safe for a decade or so.
Question is, what's it worth in 10yrs given there were no double sealed watches allowed post 2017 plus they are no discontinued ?
