I'm trying to find myself a watch but not having much joy....
An Automatic GMT
Small (39mm max)
Classically good looking and not wacky/off the wall
Rotatable bezel
Up to £3/4k
I'd love either a Rolex GMT (too pricey really) or Tudor GMT but I find them too big/chunky/flash!! (Less so the Tudor.. if that was 39mm then that would be the one.)
Any suggestions would be gratefully received

Squale and Steinhart both do 39mm GMT's, but perhaps a bit too 'entry level' for what you're after.
Otherwise I've had my eye on one of these since they came out. It's 41mm, but having tried it I think it 'wears smaller than that'.

They do it in a blue colour also.

A few of the suggestions posted have fixed rather than rotatable bezels - whether this matters to you maybe depends on how important it is to you to be able to track 3 time zones rather than two?
If you really want a rotatable bezel and can live with a small-wearing 40mm rather than the 39mm you mentioned - this is very nice (I may be biased as I have one and like it alot), imho a level above everything else currently suggested in terms of finishing (other than the Grand Seiko which is a quartz), and in your price range:
