Recently acquired a PAM01523 new but concerned the lume is 'faulty'. Is that a thing?

As in I can't read it in the middle of the night even though I've been outside all day.

My other watches are bright enough to read on the same basis.

Struggling to get a picture but I'll try again later.

The other small issue is the movement sounds quite rough as if something is grinding inside when you move it by your ear.

Any of this sound normal?

I can't say that I've looked at the lume on mine in the middle of the night i.e. how long does it last, but the lume on my PAM111 is by far the brightest of all my watches. Almost like a light. Is it dull straight away in the dark or losing light over time?

My Panerai in house movement is quite noisy too, think it’s normal. Like a pepper mill sound?

It's dull straightaway. Which I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be!

Yep, not what I'd expect and nothing like any of my other watches.

Mine too...pepper mill is spot on, rattly too. Not sure it started like that but been like it at least 10 years. Never serviced but keeps good time. Not obviously broken so no intention of fixing!

Lume a bit crap too but I tend to be asleep at night.

(No idea what model...if anyone is an expert and can easily tell, I'd be grateful. Got it around 2001 when Panerai relaunched, I think).

Strange, you would have a modified ETA movement I think, whereas mine is one of the newer in house!
Maybe it's a built in "feature" of the Panerai brand hehe

Re: Lume, it should be much stronger in the sandwich dial versions. Mine isn't, and the lume isn't that impressive either

I might take it back and see what they say.
