New Rolex Submariner
Discussion
Afraid your not going have one any time soon not from an AD..
You can march into many grey dealers and get one easily at well over list, if you can’t stomach that I’d say buy another brand.
Might be worth reading a few other threads about rolex on here as well it’s a fun game!
I Wish you luck trying to find an AD to supply you, you’ll need it.

First decent watch, just after a basic submariner date. Any idea on lead times etc, can I just march into an AD and pay list for a new one, or are there deals to be had...?
Any guidance from the PH directors greatly appreciated.
Yes, you can do all that! Report back with how you get on and post up the pics when you get it. Good luck!Any guidance from the PH directors greatly appreciated.
Lot of comedians on this thread !
Was actually a genuine question, I freely admit to knowing f
k all about the Rolex buying process hence asking my newb question on here.
So is it like Porsche GT car buying, i.e. basically no chance at all unless you buy fifteen Macans and are best buds with the Dealer Principle; or can you sit on a waiting list until say, 2027 to actually get one ?

You've just summed it up rather nicely...

You don't need to buy 15 watches to get a sub but some spend history would certainly help.

With zero spend history I would suspect that your chances of getting a sub are also virtually zero

You are correct, and even if they add you onto a waiting list the list doesn't run in an order of the top person buys and you all move up, the dealers basically look at the list and choose who they fancy selling to, being on the list for a period of time doesn't really mean anything

I pissed off one of the Dons at goldsmiths, he tried to sell me the batgirl at the start of the pandemic when in fact I was down for the pepsi, wanted money up front without getting the watch till they reopened the stores again, I hate the blue one so turned it down and topped up on my WOS shares instead, could buy quite a few pepsi gmts now but I dont think they like me anymoreharleywilma said:

You may have had a lucky escape, at the start of lockdowns there was an elaborate scam involving the Watches Of Switzerland group where people on the waiting list were being contacted by people claiming to be from AD's stating they had watches in stock and taking payments for later collection where the watch in reality was never available. The callers knew the customers name and what watch they wanted and were spoofing the WoS phone numbers.
Paul Thorpe on YouTube covered it if you feel like looking at it.
