Been viewing watches on IW for a while, and tonight I was looking at Accurist, namely the Solar 120 gents steel/black leather strap model.
They showed it as an option whilst on air, but unable to select it on their website.
That was a result in itself because it's available from a famous high-street jewellers for half the price with free delivery. Am genuinely shocked at this..
Anyone else done similar comparisons?

Browse the £200 watch thread. There are so many great options, way better than the tat a shopping channel (I assume?) want to sell you.

Despite the high level of wristory, on Ideal World fk knows who would buy anything from there, recognisable brands are over priced at best. The presenter’s patter is complete bks but if you want quality you need to check these guys…go to 4:10

I assume it's a shopping channel?

I think they all rely on people getting carried away and making spare of the moment purchases without research usually by talking up how fast they are selling out, I recall Price Drop TV and Bid up TV over a decade ago was massive on that type of model.

Yes, Ideal World is a shopping channel, and it's one to avoid for watches as far as I'm concerned... Massively overpriced for the watch I ended up with being sent to me from a very popular High St Jewellers...!

I might have got this wrong, but isn’t the whole point of those shopping Chanel’s that you pay in instalments because you don’t have the money up front?

They build that into the price so rather than saying buy now for £150 or in 4x £50 they look like there is no interest payment as it’s priced for £200. If you have £150 you will go to the other shops, if you only have £50 a month you get it from them.

I seem to remember some of the home catalogues back in the 90s were liked that. Everything was easily 20% more than the shops, but you could pay ‘interest free’ over 52 weeks. It even gave you the price of 1.10pw or equivalent on every item.

Does the Chanel give a lot of only xxx a month statements? Normally followed up with nearly running out of stock.

OP, I'm confused... you're very happy with it, but it's overpriced..?

Are you able to send it back and buy it cheaper?

My father in law got a watch on their a couple of years back. Think it was about £600. A quick Google i did a few months ago had them at £900 now. I'll have to dig up what it was.

From OP's posts I'm guessing he maybe paid full £90 RRP from H Samuel via the TV channel...
In which case just return it and buy direct at their sale price, unless there are tricky t&c's in original purchase?

Apologies for the confusion caused..
I was viewing Accurist watches on Ideal World and saw the one I liked, and was surprised how much cheaper it was on the High St.
I bought it for £45 from H Samuel with free delivery, when Ideal World wanted £95...! yikes

I used to watch late night shopping channels, after returning from the pub, just a little bit too drunk to go to bed.

I never purchased anything, I just loved how they could talk for such a long time about a product that could be fully described in twenty seconds.

Great skill, could never do it myself.

Nothing wrong with an Accurist, decent enough quartz watches and that one looks well-made and attractive.

Decent enough for £45. Well done OP.
