I sold a Speedmaaster on Chrono24 recently and I'm having a little issue. I know lots of you sell watches via the platform so I'd appreciate your opinion on the below.

Agreed the sale on a Monday, shipped the watch next day and the buyer received it the day after. However, the buyer hasn't marked it as received despite the tracking link I added to the site shows it as both having been received to the address given by Chrono24, and by the person who purchased it.

I contacted Chrono24 after a week asking why it was still listed as awaiting delivery, and they eventually agreed to contact the buyer (I was copied in on the email) but still no update to the sale page. The buyer has had my watch re-listed for sale on the site from last week at a £1250 premium (they are registered as a trader) but ten days on from receiving my watch, Chrono24 seem to be nothing toward releasing the funds to me.

How worried should I be here? He has my watch, C24 have the funds, I have nothing. It's feeling a bit like a scam. Obviously the funds are in escrow, but that doesn't feel very reassuring right now.

Interesting problem.

Annoying, but I wouldn’t be worried.

I would assume he has X number of days to confirm delivery before they release the funds. I expect they will have to send him another couple of ‘warning’ emails.

Have a look at the T&Cs and good luck.

Hhmm their site suggests 7 days following delivery… but for the dealer to relist the watch and you’ve not been paid !? I’d be onto c24 to sort this asap.

I’ve already emailed them three times now. Today they’ve said they are “forwarding it to another colleague for further processing”. Not impressed with this to be honest, I doubt I’d sell through them again.

I wouldn’t blame you. That’s pretty poor of them to not be more responsive and helpful in this situation. Can you contact the dealer maybe as well?

Doesn't sound great. I suspect could be waiting for the sale funds to cover his own margins.
Do traders have preferential terms, i'e has he definetly paid?

Chrono24 don’t instruct you to send the watch until they’ve received the funds in to their escrow account. So yes, he has paid for it.

What’s irking me is I uploaded the tracking info to their site and they can’t seem to be arsed to check it and verify he’s received it. When I raised the issue that it hadn’t been updated they emailed him asking if he’d received it which was ridiculous, just check your own system! By all accounts he hasn’t replied either.

I purchased a watch via chrono24 recently and when the watch was delivered, my account automatically updated after the tracking info said it was delivered ! I found it odd, but accepted that given the tracking confirmed it as delivered then all was well.

Yes, I had this happen with a watch I purchased this week. Went on the site to confirm delivery and it was already marked as delivered As above I put this down to the detailed tracking information showing it as delivered.

The above is what I would have expected but unfortunately didn’t happen.

My emails must have worked as the sale is now closed out and funds have been released, just need to wait for them appearing in my account. I’m assuming Chrono24 did it as I’ve still seen no replies from the buyer.

Cheers for the replies anyway guys.

Same here.

I would suggest a getting some screen grabs if the trader’s advert (serial numbers if available) so show that they must have received it to be able to sell it on.

I bought a watch from Chrono24 just the once in 2020 and delivery also automatically updated which released the escrow funds. I had naively assumed that it was up to the buyer to confirm delivery following inspection of goods received, before funds were released.

In my case the package was intercepted and replaced by mens toiletries (I suspect at the DHL depot) and rather than being delivered by DHL, the package was left on my doorstep by a random white van man. I filmed the unboxing and ended up having to deal with DHL (even I wasn't party to the delivery contract), file crime reports, etc. The crime agencies were utterly useless, and C24 called me the scammer and disputed my charge back on the credit card.

In the end, I was only refunded when the seller (an EU bricks and mortar store) received insurance proceeds on their loss. So I will never buy on C24 again.

Interesting.

I’ve just bought my 3rd via C24 and they’ve all been fine.

I too was under the impression I had to ‘approve’ following inspection, not just that ‘something’ (anything) was tracked and delivered yikes

People should be careful with chrono24 , it’s not quite the ‘safe’ place people think it is, heard of plenty of people that have been stung.

I say that as a registered chrono dealer.
