I'm looking for a watch for my wife (up to £1k), the current front runner is a Hamilton Jazzmaster

There is also a brand that I'm new to called Venezianico that have a few nice things - has anyone heard of them or purchased anything from them before?

Any other suggestions would be greatly received, there's room for a bit of budget creep but not too much as it'll probably end up having quite a hard life!

Looks nice, the Hamilton.

I managed to get my Sister-in-Law a Tag Carrera for not much more in a sale.

This one, for about £1100, a year ago. Similar to the Hamilton and might be available at a similar price with some sniffing out.

They used to be meccaniche veneziane. I had their Nereide dive watch, nice thing but a bit too dressy and chunky for my tastes. Italian designs, mostly Seiko movements, assembled in the Far East I think.

Their watches seem well-made but will shed value, if that’s important to you.

Have you looked at any Longines ones? Tend to be pretty good or maybe a Raymond Weil?

They have also been known in the past to have abysmal customer service, which is probably part of the reason behind the name change.

Thanks for the recommendations so far I shall check them out!

Hmm, that's interesting about Venezianico. I'd much rather see the watch before buying it too and there doesn't appear to be any shops near me.

I would also look at Tissot they have some nice automatic ladies watches around the £600 to £800 mark.

I think the one you've shortlisted to is very nice not too fussy or fashionable so won't look dated in a few years.

As mentioned before, longines do some great watches for around a grand. A la grand classique with a mother of pearl dial with diamond indices in 24mm should always look classy on my opinion.

Nice looking watch. Are you sure she wants an automatic though? Will she wear it all the time?

Much as I prefer automatics, I would tend to buy a lady an quartz. In my experience they aren't THAT bothered about automatic and just want a watch that they can put on when needed, that is telling the correct time.
