I want one. But what?

I don’t want anything too big or flashy. I’ve considered a Rolex Day Date in 36mm despite myself just because it is an iconic gold watch.

Ideas chaps?

Is it possible to get a yellow gold watch on a bracelet that isn’t flashy?

AP Royal Oak?

Seriously regret selling my (steel) one as I'd love the size now.

Considered it and may do so again. But I don’t like the bezel shape and I imagine it to be a scratch magnet.

And on reflection not as waterproof as the Rolex.

Can't really think of anything else on a bracelet.

One of the reasons a rolex is the "go to" watch.

One of my children has one. Also a PRX so that rules those out too.

Well there’s PP Nautilus, VC Overseas, Cartier Santos, JLC Reverso, lots of things.

But yes Rolex does do it quite well. I don’t see value in brand new Rolex gold though, because it’s only a stainless model in a party frock.

Surely the only answer is a Blancpain

Or available in black or blue

I respect them but they look goofy to my eye.

Royal Oak or Datejust (President just a bit too much IMO). Both will scratch so easily but the AP has a slimmer profile, which I like.

The Bathyscaphe isn’t to everyone’s tastes but I have a ceramic one (one of the Ocean Commitment series with the grey case) and it has really grown on me, it’s not small at 43.5mm or whatever it is. I also have a blue VC Overseas chronograph, which is similar size and thickness, I wear the Blancpain more often, it just feels a bit better on my wrist somehow.

What about the VC overseas dual time or three hander? Some good options in gold for the three hander and you’d get three strap options to boot (plus 150m water resistance).

A gold Tudor sports sounds a bit confused doesn’t it?

I can’t imagine them selling many at £27k! I personally would be going for a Yacht-Master 40 on a oysterflex. Not sure why but the oysterflex strap does it for me on yellow gold rolex watches.

I am in Italy at the moment, there are Rolexes everywhere. I’ve seen three Rolex yellow gold sports on bracelets in the last two hours alone.

Rolex is the obvious choice for my requirement aside from they are so prolific, and i struggle with the concept of paying multiples of the steel model price for yellow gold which is intrinsically less suitable for the job.
