Thinking of buying an Oris for my daughter but the model she wants is no longer made. The only one I can see is in the US but there will be a PITA in terms of import duty to the UK. The watch is only £700 or so but can see on both Chrono24 and also maybe 10% cheaper direct from shop. Can’t see that either of these include HMRC’s slice on the way past.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

simples...
buy a cheap plane ticket, reserve it online, go collect and bring it back.
screw Reeves' tax rampage in the process.

It's generally cheaper to import + pay tax/vat than go through C24. Especially if you buy from somewhere like Japan.

Its not much hassle to import, whoever ships e.g. UPS, Fedex etc will send you an invoice once its cleared customs, once paid they will deliver. 20% VAT (on both the price and shipping cost) plus around £10 admin fee to process. Done it lots of times with no issue but then I've never had to return anything and reclaiming the VAT does look to be a bit more complicated so be sure that you will be keeping it.
