I keep getting an ad pop up in my news feed for Baltany. And I must say, I like their explorer homage.

It's 230 quid, or thereabouts. And has a Seiko nh38,.which means nothing to me other than Seiko is reputable.

Anyway, the point is...is it a.fair price? Or will it fall apart on the 2nd wear?

It’ll be on par with Seiko except with a better bracelet, crystal, and lume. I think you’d be pleasantly surprised with the finishing etc for the money.

Buy it on Ali Express though, it’s a lot cheaper at £149.66 and 7 day delivery.

Thanks, I think I’ll get one then.

I don’t get Ali express though - when search for an item you get dozens of the same thing all at different prices, with seemingly fake discounts, I find it all quite bewildering tbh.

I bought a Baltany quartz chronograph a couple of years ago. It was excellent.

There’s a YouTube video where the guy buys about 8 Explorer homages, maybe worth a look. I will see if I can find it.

Found it!

I have one, I wanted a cheap Panerai-esque watch. Seems absolutely fine for the money (£155), obviously not to the level of the real thing, but these homage watches I only buy cheap to wear occasionally. I bought direct from Baltany though, not through Aliexpress or similar.

well it arrive, and its not bad.

I thought the bracelet and bit that sits into the lugs wasn't all that well finished - sharpish edges, but when I compared it a black bay I've got upstairs it actually seems fairly similar.

No safety on the clasp.

Winder/crown mechanism a little graunchy.

But overall, seems fair for the money.

Came with a little leather pouch, bracelet adjustment tools, cleaning cloth and warranty card (can't imagine I'd go to the bother of sending it back, or whether the warranty is worth the plastic its printed on).

colour is described on their website as wine red, but really its chocolate brown with cream hands and numerals.
