Picked this up for peanuts at a stall last weekend. Wasn't working but a new quartz battery got it going. It's hefty. Everything on it is a bit squint and there's obviously a missing stem. As I say, it was peanuts but the weight/build quality is intriguing me.

Interesting, hard to tell from the photos.

Its easy to tell a cheaper clone, especially if you have access to a real one, but needs a professional to spot the best fakes.

I have been comparing my genuine Omega Seamaster with an £130 clone.

I dont think it would fool me but its pretty impressive, thats what they call AAA, but the £500 "superclone" would probably require the back taking off and the movement examining.

On the cheaper one.

The face is marginally smaller.
Wave effect on dial not as crisp, not as reflective.
Glass reflects slightly differently.
The Bezel is different, has a lip and is recessed, and the finish isnt quite the same, the zero marker is bigger.
The numbers on the bezel show through to the metal beneath, the real one has white numbers.
The 12 o clock markers are nearer together on the fake.
The hour markers are paler/dont seem as luminous.
The clasp is a cm shorter, doesnt shut with the same click
The movement initially looks similar through the clear caseback, but
The rotor is similar but is held on with a screw vs a central bearing type thing
Rest of the movement looks quite different, pressed steel parts vs milled.
Date window number is duller
Bracelet folds slightly differently where it enters the case
Crown feels roughter when turned
Bracelet has pins rather than screws
Braclet links have slightly more milled edges on the fake.
Doubt its water resitant to 300 metres
Doubt it will cope with a 15000 Gauss magnetic field

Its better than I was expecting, interested to see how it gets on, no idea what the movement is but its ticking and keeping time.

Weight wise, not weighed them but the fake is marginally lighter, will weigh them once the bracelet is equalised.

There are Bell and Ross clones, might be worth taking it into a dealer and see what they think ?

It looks like a bit of bad take on a BR 02-94. The quality of it confirms it's not original Bell & Ross and the fact that it's quartz rather than automatic cements this.

100% fake no question. These were automatic never quartz.

Also you can see by the finish and execution of the dial that it’s not a real B&R.

Not in the BR02 they haven’t/ don’t. They are the BR S or BR03 “Aerospace”

I'm aware of this but the watch it's most closely imitating as per my post does not come in a quartz variant.
