Yes we all know it is a Rolex Submariner, we know that as it is one of the most ubiquitous watches across the internet often for non-diving middle management and executives. The current "Sub" is a heavy handed pastiche of the original functional dive watch that was strangely focused for a decade or two from launch on "tool watch".

Hans Wildorf would now be so proud that his inspiration upon marketing has shone through to make the Sub so appealing to so many people through shiny excess whilst mostly being machine made in huge numbers.

Everyone is different and I applaud anyone who has got their grail watch of a Submariner.

Sub - not for me please call it a Submariner
