Been looking for a new watch on and off for a little while now, rarely seem to see anything that really catches my eye.

However I've finally seen one - the Police Navy II :

I'm going off the majority of shiny/silver/gold watches, and love the black metal finish of this one.

Anyone got opinions on the Police watches - build quality, accuracy, etc. or got suggestions on alternatives at roughly similar prices (preferably sub £200)?

I'd check out Werners http://www.wernersflyingwatches.com/default.asp

Seiko do some decent watches for <£200 aswell. If you Google it, loads come up.

I expect both will be better quality than the Police one. I'm guessing that Police one is a Quartz movement, so it should keep good time.

I've never been one for 'fashion' watches, more style than substance.

I've been a really picky so-and-so with the watches I'm tending to like at the moment, haven't seen any Seikos that quite hit the spot.

Initial thoughts on the werners were that they weren't to my liking, a lot are leather straps which I have never got on with.

But these :

Are definitely getting my attention - heck, at those prices I'd be tempted to but the last two ....

Oh dear god, that Werners site is just not fair.

I've now seen about 10 watches I'd love to have.

Looking on the thread here about their range, there was a mention of a PH discount?

Just mention PH and you will get a small discount I'm sure.

BTW if you want a black Tri-phase, I've got a virtually new one for sale at discount... my Tauchmeister is my preferred watch in that price range now.

With the prices, I think I'd prefer to stick at list, a few quid won't make much difference.

Its just too dangerous (financially). I'll find myself wanting to buy another watch darned near every month (or is that day?).

I agree, it's a lovely looking watch but it's very similar to the S1 I bought last week.

I'll probably go for the T38 as pictured above (and just blogged about on Nolarblogwink ) or either one of these instead and get the B4L in a while.

Apologies for the slight hijack OP but it might give you more options anyway. smile

As per the question from the OP.......I have a yellow faced chrono Police watch and its a great watch. Keeps great time and doesn't mind getting battered bruised and wet

I picked up one of those black ones the other week for around 25 quid inc delivery from Ebay, still has full warrentey etc but no box.
he has them up as a buy it now at a similar price to Werners but also lists auctions at 1 euro start.
check out this seller "aeromatictauchmeister"
Not connected just I got a good bargain from him

At that sort of price surely you'd be looking at a japanese movement, a Seiko or a Citizen? "Fashion" watches just aren't worth the label in my experience.

Copied this and my text reader (software that reads out loud what you copy) picked it up as aeromatic toshmeister. hehe

Thanks for the heads up btw.

Thats it, I've gone and ordered one - Nick does sound like a damn sound bloke.

Ordered a Pepsi Auto - ticks all the boxes for the moment, looks and overall quality.
