All,

I am in a predicament to where I should be putting my money for a new watch purchase.
I currently have an entry level (as I see it) premium watch, which is a tag F1 Chronograph but want to get another with a budget of up to £2300.
I like metal bracelets and I like a chunky design. My shortlist as it stands today is as below, although I would like to hear any more suggestions.
Are the prices published for each negotiable via different suppliers? Any recommendations of a supplier too?

Thanks in advance.

As a completely different consideration which will be worn casually and not formally at work;

Stacks less too....

With £2300 and 18 months interest free finance you could move into Rolex world . . .

Use barclaycard to pay the deposit and you'll get a nice chunk of rewards points which acts as a discount.

Extremely safe – some might say almost completely devoid of imagination, so let's open your eyes to some options

Buy pre-owned is the way to go in my view.

Sold my Bremont SM500 for £2,500 only last week. One with the rubber strap instead of the bracelet would probably be under £2k

Damasko DC67 – Circa £1,200 pre-owned or £1,700 new

1972 Heuer Autavia – Circa £1,500

IWC 3717 – Circa £2,400 Pre-owned

IWC 3719 – Circa £1,900 Pre-owned & the non-chrono version is £200 - £300 less

Early 60’s Seamaster 300 – £1,200 to £2,000 depending on condition

Pre-owned Speedy Pro - £1,000 to £2,500 depending on condition / vintage, but somethong 2 to 5 years old will be circa £1,300

Lemania powered, late 70’s Orfina Porsche Design Chrono circa £800

Sold my 2003 Explorer II only last week for £2,450

Have a look at the Sinn Range here

The choices are endless. This is a good resource to see what's out there

For me it would have to be a Superocean Heritage cloud9

Chunky but simple.

Either this:

or this:

Zenith Rainbow Flyback Chronograph with perhaps the finest mainstream chronograph movement ever made. Certainly available used within budget.

Both just ooze class.

You won't be thanking him when your bank account is emptied, you're surrounded by luxury watches and wondering where did it go wrong. nuts

I clicked on the link, saw a post about an Alan McNish Oris (I'm a big Sportscar racing fan and love anything to do with Endurance racing) and had to exit the site pretty pronto just incase anything else caught my eye... hehe

That looks very special....surprised at the price tag too.

DH01 - Didnt consider Rolex. A friend has a Daytona and wrongly presumed the cost of a Rolex was more than my budget.

Although pre-owned is a great way to get more for your money - Im quite precious (and potentially short sighted) and like to buy new.

Aaaaah, I have a wife to stop me buying stuff like that. smile

(Although I'm still hoping to grab something nice for my 40th this year - keep debating between something classic like an IWC Portuguese or TAG Monaco, something a little more different like a B&R BR03, a chunky Ball Hydrocarbon with tritium tubes or something from a small manufacturer like a Dornbluth.)

Someone once described my Ball Hydrocarbon Classic I as a knuckle duster for your wrist - The Hydrocarbon range are chunky bits of metal, but easily as well built as an Omega. Ernest Jones began stocking them last year, so you should be able to try some Balls on (hehe) without having to travel too far smile

Here is a review of mine:
