Tissot PRC 200 or CW C5?
Discussion
The OH is getting me my first decent watch for my birthday in April and these are the 2 I like so far, budget is £250
I know there are a few threads on here about Christopher Ward, but I know nothing about them and there doesn't seem to be too much online, I looked at TZ and they weren't that complimentary at times
I know nothing really about watches quartz/auto I know the styles I like though
I like being able to see the movement behind
Any recommendations one way or another?

I did a search for CW and there weren't many threads but a few were slating the build quality and customer service if you have issues
There aren't many reviews online either apart from the CW forum
I like them I really like the C5 but I want to know I am getting my moneys worth, I know £250 isn't huge amounts in the watch world but it matters to me
I also know that PH can be way ahead of the game in certain areas so this may be the case I dont know though

I'm planning on buying a CW at the end of the month....
Like you i've seen mixed reviews but I think that's just the power of the internet at work. Certain forums (like PH) will always have brands that are in fashion or considered the best so I still take everything I read with a pinch of salt.
Another PHer has a CW which he had a problem with, sent it back to CW and they fixed it quickly without quibble

I've got a CW C7 Rapide and it was faulty when I received it. The date wasn't sitting in the middle of the little window. Sent it back and they replaced it straight away, no messing about and also refunded the postage costs. I love the watch, I think it's great value for the price I paid.
Only slight down side is that I find the clasps they use on the strap on this model are a little uncomfortable for me. Have also notice that the prices had gone up a bit since I purchased mine.

The C5 automatic with numbers or plain batons? I have seen the plain baton one in the flesh and it is very nice. That said, I've seen the PRC200 in the flesh... and that is nice, too. Yeah, I know, I'm not helping.
these are the 2 exact ones I likehttp://www.thewatchhut.co.uk/Tissot-Gents-PRC-200-...

I've always wanted a Tissot as I had heard they were a decent(ish) brand and I always knew of them because of my love of Moto GP
But I've also spent a lot of time on here and I know in some of these subforums a lot of sense can be spoken, had never heard of CW so thought I would check them out
My heart still kinda says the Tissot
Is Quartz not good then?

It's not that it's not good. It's a basic non-chronograph quartz so should be cheaper IMO. I am currently wearing a PR100 automatic (ETA 2836-2 movement) - I think it's great; nice, simple design, feels weighty, pretty accurate for a non-COSC movement. I paid £100 or thereabouts as it was pre-owned.

Ah right with youThis is what I don't know
So would it be (in ascending order)
Quartz - non chrono
Auto
Quartz Chrono - is there such a thing?
Dont know enough about watches, apart from what I like and what I dont,to comment on the technical merits of either but I have got a C7 and C2LE Christopher Ward and they seem well made to me, have had no problems so cant comment on the after sales side of things.
CW also offer a 60 day return if you dont like the watch.
Edited to get rid of the obvious mistake about the two being basically the same inside the case. CW5 automatic movement Tissot quartz no contest for similar money.

I think the CW has won out
I sent my brother the tissot last night (he has had Rolex's and his most recent was a Paneiri so I respect his opinion on the watch front) and he said 'Looks nice'
Sent him the C5 tonight and his response was 'looks very impressive for the price' and he even pointed out this one which he may now consider for himself, I kinda prefer this to my previous choice too

So cheers guys looks like CW will have another customer or 2 in the next months
