Hi all, been lurking for a while but not started a post in the watch section - so here goes!

I'm really undecided as to my next purchase, it's going to be a couple of months away but really can't make a firm decision between these two...

This...

or this...

Currently, my preference is leaning towards the Damasko but in all honesty I really like both, so I'm really torn! I'd really appreciate some informed opinion/advice/preferences from the aficionados out there...

I've had a good look through past threads covering both pieces but if anything it's left me more undecided!...so apologies if we're covering some old ground here...

Thanks,
STG.

If it matters you'll be able to get the Sinn on a bracelet, but not the Damasko.

I'm not a particular fan of that style, but I'd go for the Sinn purely on aesthetics.

This might help, not *exactly* the same watches but close enough http://www.tz-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t...

Personally I'd go with the Sinn as I prefer the face, I've just got hold of a 757 for that very reason smile

Both great watches though, the Sinn maybe slighty more common (relatively!) but either will be well built bits of kit.

I really like the Damasko but the Sinn wins it for me on face clarity - the 12,3,6,9 is much nicer than all numbers. They aren't very big watches, so this counts when you're actually wearing it, and more so with the added distraction of the chrono sub dials.

Also, can you buy the Damasko easily? I always thought that they were in comparatively short supply by comparison to the Sinn.

Both are excellent choices though. thumbup

Purely personal choice, but I'd go for the Sinn. To me, it looks 'cleaner' and less cluttered.

That said, there's not much in it, and they're both great watches. I find myself steering away from chronos now, where a few years ago I really liked them.

Both very nice watches.

On the + side for the Damasko - Specially hardened steel case - these really are very tough watches, rarer, fantastic A/R on the crystal, funky constant seconds hand at 9 O'clock (the Sinn doesn't have a second hand except for the chrono one), all movements are regulated to better than COSC standards, Date at 3 (where it should be wink) + day.

One the + side for the Sinn - Cleaner dial, chrono minute sub-dial has 5 minute markers making it easier to use, available with a bracelet, rounded crown end more comfortable than the squarer Damasko version if you wear your watches low.

As I prefer to wear Pilots on a strap, I'd go Damasko on balance.

I swapped my 56 for a 57.

Purely on aesthetics, Damasko for me.

Slightly different models, but I tried a Sinn 656, and found it on the small side, so went for a Damasko DA36.

That 57 looks great with the brown strap (Toshi?) Andy.

Thanks to everyone for the responses so far, some good opinion and advice. That link was very useful thanks CardShark - gives a good comparison of the 2 makes.

This will be my first Chrono so I want to make the right choice. I prefer this type of watch on a strap so the Sinn bracelet option isn't a big deal to me...and I already have a couple of watches with bracelets.

I'm still leaning towards the Damasko at this point but I do really like the Sinn also. One tiny niggle (and possibly not really worth worrying about?) is the Warranty/Repair/Service - I understand that Sinn is possibly the safer option of the two, given a more established customer support side and brand...

Decisions decisions!...
