I don't wear watches because i have pretty bad eczema on my wrists, But i am amazed at the mechanics and engineering of them.

I have just come across this video of an amazing animation of a planetary watch. It is full HD 1080p so put it on full screen and just be amazed.

Very impressive, thanks for posting.

I am sure that someone will correct me, but I had read somewhere that Titanium watches are very kind to the skin. That may allow you to wear one!

I was sat watching it, completely lost for words. I think i have watched it about 4 times in the last 30 minutes.

Well it's my 21st in November this year and i have already been told by my parents that i should start thinking about what i want, something to keep for a very long time. My brother got a really nice guitar. Out of all of my ideas, so far heading up the list is a proper pocket watch, maybe silver(?). I have always loved them but never had enough spare money to buy one. I would never do pocket watches the injustice of buying a cheap one, if you're going to do it, you may as well do it properly.

Wow. Engineering pr0n. What kind of ballpark are we talking here - nothing mentioned on the Urwerk website or their UK retailer (http://www.marcuswatches.co.uk/collection?brand=urwerk), actually that particular watch isn't even on the site yet.

No price on that watch, all potential dealers just say POA. The current urwerk sells at circa $100,000 apparently, but it is nowhere near as pretty.

NICE! I'd love to have a stab at CAD'ing up a nice watch design.

That was a lovely animation.

I too was under the impression that titanium is hypo-allergenic and thus much less likely to aggravate allergic conditions like eczema.

There might be someone that makes a homage somewhere. I mean obviously we could afford it but we might be able to get one in different colours etc.
