Can anyone recommend one for home use? It will be used only on small items such as rings, earrings etc. I have had a quick look on amazon but nothing really stands out.

Thanks S_W

I bought this one...
Ultra 7000 Professional Digital Ultrasonic Cleaner from ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ULTRASONIC-JEWELLERY-CLEANER...

They sell it in Maplins I noticed for £30 at the moment. Does the job ok I guess, would say its a little lightweight but I don't think you are going to get much more for the same money. I have used it on my missus' engagement ring and it did bring it up very well, as well as some metal watch bands. Best used with warm/hot water and a bit of washing up liquid. Difficult to compare as I don't have aframe of reference. Only thing is I wish I could put in the time manually, max you can select without reselecting is 480 seconds. For £30 its fine.

HTH

If what you're cleaning has not been cleaned for some time, the stuff thats left in the bottom is gross so you know its doing something!

Aldi had those for twenty pounds last week, your local store will probably have some left, I bought one last year and it works well.

The one in Aldi is the same as the Maplin and that ebay one but cheaper smile, it's not showing on their website now but my local store still had about twenty of them yesterday.

These days I always use boiling water and fairy liquid it works a treat loosening crap between bracelet links, only downside the boiling water distorts the plastic tray not that it matters at £20-£30 a machine.
