"Modding" your watch

Does anyone ever tinker with their watches? Mine started off like this:



Then with a bit of gold plating and a new strap, became this:



Now the plating has been removed and I've gone to a black strap which I think really suits:




So - does anyone else put their watches through similar or have I got too much time on my hands?

I swap straps around all the time.

Pah. That's not modding. I thought by modding you meant changing hands and dials. I considered it but you need very specific tools to avoid damaging anything. And I have hooves, which isn't ideal.
