So I've been a good boy and not bought a watch recently...well not since I got that moosive Russian Divers thing or a recent cheapo c1968 Seiko 5 vintage 6119-5400 last night on fleabay (It's bloody gorgeous and was only fifty quid...ish)

So the force is strong here Gentlemen, what is the preferred route?

Chopard - Mille Miglia... surely a must for any petrolhead?

OR

Alain Silberstein - Chrono...A sublime modern design masterpice?

both are pre owned and available for around £1.5k to £2k. I really can not choose between them, please advise.

scratchchin Hmmm, yes buy both, but that would displeasure the evil wifebeast (she just doesn't understand) and scupper my Masterplan for the Blancpain fifty-fathoms.

Alain Silberstein. It's bright, refreshing and different. I'm afraid the Chopard looks dull and 'samey' in comparison. Quite fancy a Silberstein myself now! type

It's certainly different. I'm not sure that's a good thing in this case though.

To me it looks like a 5 year old has designed the hands. hehe

Seems not to be in doubt looking at them, but refreshing (in this very serious world of ours) nonetheless! jester

+1 - only concern is it's a bit marmite - so you may take a big hit when you try and flip it...

Both are nice and very different watches. I'd like the AS with a different straighter second hand.

Based purely on asthetics and while it's a little bit 'out there' I'd go for the A.S. The Chopard to me is >yawn< boring and I can't stand the strap, it's easy to replace but that one is just trying too hard and looks tacky.

I love Alain Silberstein's stuff, but they really are love/hate & I'm not sure how residuals will pan out. I prefer the black faced MM with the date bubble to the one in the OP, but that's just me. Of the two, I'd pick the AS. Wish I had the luxury of those kinds of choices right now hehe

Bit like cars; if you buy worrying about what the next owner will think, you're sunk! Buy because you like it and can afford it. The rest will work itself out later, one way or the other.
